I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Bushbat

Via TNR, the Wall Street Journal publishes an editorial by Andrew Klavan declaring "The Dark Knight" really depicts our fearless leader:

A cry for help goes out from a city beleaguered by violence and fear: A beam of light flashed into the night sky, the dark symbol of a bat projected onto the surface of the racing clouds . . .

Oh, wait a minute. That's not a bat, actually. In fact, when you trace the outline with your finger, it looks kind of like . . . a "W."

There seems to me no question that the Batman film "The Dark Knight," currently breaking every box office record in history, is at some level a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war. Like W, Batman is vilified and despised for confronting terrorists in the only terms they understand. Like W, Batman sometimes has to push the boundaries of civil rights to deal with an emergency, certain that he will re-establish those boundaries when the emergency is past.

And like W, Batman understands that there is no moral equivalence between a free society -- in which people sometimes make the wrong choices -- and a criminal sect bent on destruction. The former must be cherished even in its moments of folly; the latter must be hounded to the gates of Hell.

No word yet on what Patrick Leahy thinks.

Batman is more like Yo Sammity Sam than Batman. How can you compare a good hearted noble comic book hero to a manipulative stupid igorant lying cowboy president?!

Batman doesn't kill and destroys his bat sonar at the end of the movie

Bush Kills millions and keeps his spy technology forever and ever

And like Batman, George W Bush has an extremely large Codpiece when he puts on his flight suit.

From a respected financial news source to a comic tabloid paper. Is this what Murdoch intended for the WSJ when he bought it? His Fox not enough to spew garbage at Americans? Why doesn't this bloody Australian sell trash to his own people?

What an insult to my beloved hero Batman!

The point of the movie is that vigilantes arise out of a lack of faith in the system and people. Vigilantes arise out of the failure of society. As the head of society W cannot be Batman. His Vigilanteism arises out of self-interest and greed. W needs to be Harvey Dent, but he is so far from that that he becomes Batman, who even as noted by the film should not exist.

I'd be interesting in looking back to see what Andrew Klavan had to say about Bush strutting around USS Abraham Lincoln in that flight suit with the overstuffed codpiece. Something tells me he was on of those who shivered with excitement at the sight.

I can see W as someone who would enjoy wearing a full length rubber suit next to his skin.

If only we could add padded walls to his habit... Think of the lives that would be saved!

What kind of b.s. piece is this? (And this is not satire?) Batman is competent; Bush isn't. How about a new character: Chimpman. (no offense to chimps) He can be summoned with dollar signs by lobbyists and the religious Right, and he bumbles around with his sidekick Big D*ck trying to find his nemesis Ban Freedom in mountain caves, all the while menacing innocent citizens with their bad aim and their own brand of lawlessness.

Hmmm...maybe it rings too true.

Yes, Murdoch owns both Fox & WSJ. It was a big thing a year ago.

So, if Meet Dave had made a bazillion dollars at the box office, would Bush be Eddie Murphy?
