McCain Avoids Gay Adoption Question From Stephanopoulos (VIDEO)

During John McCain's appearance on ABC's This Week host George Stephanopoulos pressed him on whether or not McCain supported gay adoption. McCain avoided the question, saying his "position" is it's not why he is running for president. He then says that while it is "important" to emphasize family values, he hopes people understand that it is "very important" to realize that we have other challenges. His next sentence, however, is "I'm running for president of the United States because I want to help with family values." McCain ultimately refused to say whether or not he supported gay adoption despite being asked several times by Stephanopoulos. The question was clearly an awkward one for Sen. McCain.

McShovel...keep digging that hole, you'll soon reach bottom .

After watching Jerry Springer and Maury Povich, and the rest of their ilk , sure can see why them folks want to preserve "the sanctity of marriage'".....

I wish this guy had the balls to say what he believes instead of doublespeak.

If Senator McCain is the poster child for family values, what a joke. Divorcing your wife for a younger and richer person-what morals you have Senator. You favor a 100 year war? Count the number of orphans.

LGTB Families have even more reason to withhold their "required" taxes from the federal government and keep it to use for their familes. Why are LGTB families penalized for TRING VERY HARD to raise Heterosexual American's abandoned children? GAY TAX PROTEST.

Ay man this election should look like 84 after the MSM starts to FINALLY emphasize all these McCain gaffes. McCain should win Utah and that's about it.

IF any of you had done research you would have realized that this is how McCain has been flip-flopping for years and avoiding any question that shows his true "colors"....YOUTUBE had a clip showing this exact thing of how he say one thing and then disagree with himself over and over on each interview for past TEN YEARS....TO say that he is the "champion of flip flopping is in itself an "understatement".

It is very hard for me to understand WHY you would want to vote for McCain. I understand the News Media being owned by Corporate Republican but I don't understand why people can't research some these lies they tell for themselves instead of just accepting these sound bites and continuing lying shows.. D....N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did Stephanopoulos want Johnny to adopt him? Is that why he asked the question? Not saying that either one of them is gay, but then to use a recent McCain quote, "I don't know".

His position, in one word, is NO.

So much for straight talk..... and I'm shocked he didn't turn that around into talking about the surge.

"I support two parent family values... and the surge worked!"

And gay couples don't count as two people? Did they teach little Johnny Mac how to count back in the stone age? Or did I miss it that gay people don't constitute for a whole human being and two only add up to, say, a one parent family? Silly Republicans.....

I believe it was a sign from God- I big 'severe thunderstorm warning' on John McCains face...

When the weather alert went off...Did anyone else think McCain was having a Reverend Wright moment against gays?

Had he left it at " That's not the reason I'm running."

I think anybody would have been fine with that- no votes lost. There's bigger issues right now than gay marriage, no offense, but it's true.

But old man McCain loves the spotlight, the airtime, so he just keeps on talking....Thanks!

Anyone who is against gay adoption OR Abortion needs to be lining up to adopt several kids. I would say about 20 at the least.

When any of these Republicans start spouting things like "family values" someone needs to ask them exactly what that means. Which values are they talking about? Values like not leaving your wife when she is disabled and a younger richer one comes along? Values like being against homosexuality and then getting caught tapping your foot in a bathroom stall trying to solicit gay sex?

I am confused about which values they are talking about.
