McCain Avoids Gay Adoption Question From Stephanopoulos (VIDEO)
During John McCain's appearance on ABC's This Week host George Stephanopoulos pressed him on whether or not McCain supported gay adoption. McCain avoided the question, saying his "position" is it's not why he is running for president. He then says that while it is "important" to emphasize family values, he hopes people understand that it is "very important" to realize that we have other challenges. His next sentence, however, is "I'm running for president of the United States because I want to help with family values." McCain ultimately refused to say whether or not he supported gay adoption despite being asked several times by Stephanopoulos. The question was clearly an awkward one for Sen. McCain.
