McCain Spokesman: Obama Hasn't Visited Mexico City!

Following Obama's trip abroad, it looked like the McCain campaign had lost a key talking point about Obama's failure to visit Iraq and Afghanistan recently enough.

But have no fear. Here's McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds on CNN today:

In fact, [Obama's] never met with President Uribe in Colombia, as John McCain has. He has still yet to take a trip to Mexico City to have those meetings there and his relationship with Canada, I think, took a turbulent roll through the primaries. So I think actually if you're to look at the experience of both candidates, that there are very telling differences.

These meetings that Barack Obama had taken throughout the week were a lot of meetings that John McCain was making for the fifth, sixth or seventh time in many cases, and these were his first meetings. So to compare them on the substance, we think, is really incomparable.

Tucker, apparently you're unaware that McCain had months to sit back and relax while Obama fought Hillary tooth and nail during the democratic primary. As a matter of fact, McCain is still relaxing in his 200 or less townhall meetings as Obama travels to cities and countries campaigning before thousands. Obama doesn't have the luxury of taking weekends off to invite supporters to a BBQ cookout because he is busy campaigning to win the democratic presidential election. So Tucker, you have the audacity to say he hasn't visited Mexico? How very astute of you to notice. Perhaps Obama can work your Mexico visit suggestion into his already overloaded schedule soon, very soon. After all, he has done more traveling than McCain could possibly do at his 70+ age and now you desire to add Mexico to agenda. I have a suggestion, why not map out a week for McCain to visit all the countries Obama traveled to last week? By the way, don't forget to add the speeches to McCain's agenda while you're at it. After which, I will be happy to consider any valid complaint you might invent concerning Obama's country visitations or the lack thereof.

Initially the press was undermining his foreign policy credentials because he had not been to Iraq in 16 months, he then takes a whirlwind trip oversees to Afghanistan then Iraq and is well received, to the extent that the Iraqi leadership echoes some of the very same positions that Obama was articulating. He meets with king Abdullah, Israeli and Palestinian leaders, delivers a great speech in Berlin then heads home after stops in France and England. He represents very well.
Now the press does a flip flop and calls him presumptous for appearing too comfortable in those settings. He is damned if he did and damned if he did'nt.
I fail to see any so-called infatuation by the press. I think the media might be terribly dissapointed that the big gaffe they so much wanted did not happen.
