Here's the trailer for "W.", the upcoming Oliver Stone movie based on the life of President George W. Bush. The music in this preview is wonderfully sarcastic, but the MSM is already panning the thing without even watching any of it. Stone has lost credibility since "JFK", even though I am inclined to believe there was some sort of conspiracy involving his death and the death of his brother and MLK. Think it was more of a case of certain security personnel "looking the other way" than the hokum Stone pitched at us.

No, it was a planned conspiracy, but Stone's version was unbelievably elaborate. It made a good movie though. Never have been convinced of RFK and MLK conspiracies but I keep an open mind.

Yes the music "What a Wonderful World" was a nice touch!

I re-read Jim Marrs's "Crossfire" on the JFK assassination once every four or five years. Nothing adds up still all these years later.

Makes you wonder.

Although I hated Richard Nixon, I thought Stone's "Nixon" was exceptionally good. If this trailer is any indication, though, "W" (a) isn't going to be as compelling a drama as "Nixon," and (b) doesn't have Anthony Hopkins in it.

I also thought "Nixon" was a decent film effort. There was a worthy deep structure commentary in it below the surface for people who understand the deeper elements in the medium of film craft. But as I remember, it totally bombed. It was pulled after only three days ay the one local cineplex that ran it. I think it lost at least $30 million and I thought Stone then said he would never do another political bio pic. Maybe this film will be the final gravestone on the national psychological nightmare of having elected an idiot to the Presidency of the United States. Maybe it will be a fitting end to it all. I will go and see it. But I honestly don't know if I will be able to sit through the whole thing. It may be much too painful.

Looks better than I was fearing. Can't wait to see Toby Jones as Karl Rove. I still feel bad about Toby being in the lesser Capote film.

I think I've had about enough of Bush. I don't care if the movie's incredible or not. I'd rather listen to Obama recite a grocery list than explore the shallow psyche of the worst president ever.

Looks kinda boring to me.
Didn't inspire me to want to see it. His drinking and carousing is well documented. What's the interest?

Whats the point? what would have been a better use of the money used to produce this film would have been a true to life doucumentary of the total corruption, total disregard of the rule of law, how, he turned the federal goverment into a sorta "MAFIA STYLE" OPERATION, at the expense of the american people, how he's leaving the country a half a trillion dollars in debt, not counting the 9.5 trillion that he has burdened the upcoming generations with, and his absloute disregard of the constitution, and what would really make this a great movie, is the fact that he and all the crooks that have been running the country "WILL NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE" "NOW THATS ENTERTAINMENT"

I'll read Bugliosi, but I do want to see how Truman Capote does as Herr Roverer. Herman Hesse playing Rudolph Hess. Could be a real knee-slapper.

I can't believe Stone hasn't made a movie about the Clinton years in the WH. His AJ Janet Reno's relentless pursuit of Bill Gates monopoly of PC OS'. His lack of forsight into the radical Islamist threat to our nation here and abroad. The vast right wing conspiracy that made him have countless affairs including one with an intern half his age in the Oval Office on numerous occassions. His being counseled by the Reverand Jesse (I want to cut his n*ts off) Jackson after the Lewinsky affair was exposed. Remember him walking around with the bible in his hand? That's a powerful image and would be great on film. Not to mention his VP is the earth's savior. Come to think of it, if they were in office for 8 years, shouldn't we have global cooling by now? And shouldn't we have a comprehensive energy policy in place? Maybe it takes more than 8 years to accomplish those things. Oh, and what about those last minute pardons! The FALN terrorists, Marc Rich, et al. I think that would be way better than W.

Hollywood is about profit--dollars--dough re Me. I'm positive that someone has a Clinton film, perhaps more than one, in the works. Remember, both the Clintons have written books, and will probably have some artistic control and financial interest in the project(s). I also have a feeling they may have been waiting to see how the Hillary for President thing was going to work out. That would have been a fairy tale ending to a blockbuster film!!
It should be clear to everyone from the campaign they ran, that the Clintons are about payday and pay back.
So I'll bet your Clinton film is in the works--with an "adjusted" ending.
As for the "W" movie, Hollywood obviously made a determination that now is the time to cash in on the Bush name, and I think they're right. I don't think anybody is going to buy a ticket to see the George W. Bush or any other Bush story once he flies out of Washington. Just as very few people would go see a George H.W. or Jimmy Carter film. Think about it.

Primary Colors may be enough. Just saw it for the first time last month. Very ironic given the events of the first half of this year.

Ditto on having lived the nightmare and not wanted to see it again. I just want Dubya to go away. Very far far away.

There will be a heartwarming scene just like in The Godfather where Daddy Bush asks W. about his daughters.

They're good, Pop. They're smarter than me. Eighteen years old and they read the funny papers.
