Watch The "W." Trailer (VIDEO)

Here's the trailer for "W.", the upcoming Oliver Stone movie based on the life of President George W. Bush. Josh Brolin plays Bush, Elizabeth Banks plays his wife Laura, and Richard Dreyfuss plays Vice President Dick Cheney. Best of all, Rob Corddry plays former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer. The movie is slate for release on October 17.

I'd like to believe that George H.W. tried to knock some sense into George W., but it seems unlikely. Both Bushs capsized the American economy. That was the primary reason #41 was not reelected. And now #43 has America and much of the world fighting for air. So if father and son share anything, it is how to ignore domestic issues and problems. Moreover, Oliver Stone has a mixed record when it comes to accurately portraying historical events. I wait and see.

43 is spending $ like there is no tomorrow, just as Lefties are supposed to do. We have a $3 trillion budget and a projected deficit this year of almost $500 billion. Bush is a tax and spend Republican in the time-honored tradiition of the Left!

I agree with those who said it's too soon to be making this movie--it seems Stone is being blatantly opportunistic to do it before the story is done. Why do the movie before Bush has a chance to REALLY f--k things up in his last 6 months? Great Iran footage, impeachment, etc.

October is the best time to release this film. It’s true that we won’t know all the horrible things Bush/Cheney did; we won’t know the exact deficit W will leave to the next administration, for example. We do know that it will be $482 BILLION *without the war debt* added on, and of course there’s 5 months left for his administration to do more devastating damage. It should end up being in excess of a half a TRILLION bucks...and they inherited a SURPLUS. I think they should be indicted as they stole this money from us, but that’s for another post.

In October voters will still have time to consider just how bad the judgment was of the American people who voted for him…you know, low (or no) information Republicans…so they can see the similarities between W and McBush *before* the election. They have to be hurting just as much as the rest of us. Bush stole the election twice, but remember how close he came to winning it! It was close enough to steal! I think this film could help push some of the unimpressed, unexcited Republicans to vote for a change. A real change…or at least stay home.

And the fact is that the movie only goes up to the invasion of Iraq. No further. Unless they changed the script. Stone said the point of it was to figure out who this guy is who got to the White House and got us in this mess. The mess, we already know all about. He has also called it a dark satire. I was very skeptical at first, but now I'm curious.

It won't be Dubya speaking, it'll be Josh Brolin --- not doing an impression of him. If you've seen the clip where he talks, he doesn't even really try to sound like him. Cromwell doesn't try to sound like Poppy either. Thank heavens.

I think it will be good. Stone's movies are idiosyncratic and opinionated but they are also often brilliantly made. My concern is that this film will make Bush too sympathetic by dwelling on his roots and conversion, rather than spending time documenting his many atrocities committed since becoming President.

Still, I think it looks good.

I've heard that the film's release is being delayed. White House censors have redacted half the script, and President Bush is about to claim Executive Priviledge on the remainder. Mukasey is expected to side with the President. That's okay. The certain Congressional hearings are bound to be more entertaining.

Who would waste 7 dollars (matinee) to see this? Isn't nearly 8 years of torture (literal, not figurative) enough? If this movie makes any money, there's no justice....oh wait...there is no justice, so it's guaranteed to be a box office smash (NOT).

The many other "W" trailers on YouTube are much better then the link privided from Huffington. This movie is going to bring back many unwanted memories, especially the part about invading Iraq and Bush's failed response to Katrina.(George Bush doesn't care about black people)?

Yeah, that'd be great if it was real. But it's NOT. That "trailer" is home-made, cobbled together from other movies and newsreel footage. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with Oliver Stone's movie. I agree that it would make a better movie, but it is not a trailer for W.
