Jon Voight accused Barack Obama of "sowing socialist seeds in young people" for an op-ed published in the Washington Times on Monday.

Writing on behalf of "we, as parents," Voight blamed the Democrats for waging a propaganda campaign against America's youth and insisted Obama is weak on terror.

Here are some excerpts:

On Obama's ties to "militant white and black people":

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

On Obama's God-like stature:

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

On 1960s "hysteria":

The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds. I know this process well. I was caught up in the hysteria during the Vietnam era, which was brought about through Marxist propaganda underlying the so-called peace movement. The radicals of that era were successful in giving the communists power to bring forth the killing fields and slaughter 2.5 million people in Cambodia and South Vietnam. Did they stop the war, or did they bring the war to those innocent people? In the end, they turned their backs on all the horror and suffering they helped create and walked away.

On Obama's homeland security credentials:

There's not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world, and from Iran, which is making great strides toward getting the atomic bomb.

Voight closes by warning Obama plans to usher in a "socialist era":

This is a perilous time, and more than ever, the world needs a united and strong America. If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.

He should do some research before he makes a statement. Obama was a grown man when he met all those people. He was not a child when he met those people. Now he grew up in America as a white man when segregation was legal and it was okay to treat black people inhumane. How much does that have an effect on him right now as a grown man. Or is it possible you can see things around you that you know may not be quite right but somehow you manage to turn out to be a decent person. Let's not all be so quick to throw stones while in our glass houses.

Me thinks an angry prune is rallying behind another angry prune for president. Let's see . . .what else do we have in common? Leaving wife for another woman and abandoning young children for starts.

He must have drank the kool aid, and because of that he believes that good Americans would buy GW's lame excuse to invade Iraq instead of destroying the Taliban in Afghanistan. Next time we hear from this idiot will be on Faux News.

Let me get this straight, Voight supported the unelectably megalomaniacal martinet Giuliani and now warns us about Obama in Rev. Moon's righty propaganda rag? ROTFLMAO, what a revelation!

Ditto on the lol! His resume must read: Absentee parent and full-time windbag. He should goose-step off the nearest cliff with the rest of his ilk.

Another old white Hollywood bigot. I read the full letter and it was a hair's breath from a Stormfront rant.

It's always helpful to know what Jon Voight is thinking. Like Stephen Baldwin, his piercing intellect can help those of us not as gifted as he to see the light. And thanks to the Washington "Moonie" Times for providing him a forum ..

This is the paper they read on Washington Journal (C-Span). Whenever anyone calls in to complain that it's a right wing rag Brian Lamb defends it by saying it's the counter balance to the NY Times. Hugh?

I agree. It's a good thing his daughter learned from her mother and not him.
