WASHINGTON — A biopsy of a small patch of skin removed from Republican Sen. John McCain's right cheek showed no evidence of skin cancer, doctors said Tuesday.

"No further treatment is necessary," Michael Yardley, a spokesman for the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz., said in a statement released through McCain's presidential campaign.

The GOP nominee-in-waiting had the skin removed Monday as a precaution during a regular checkup with his dermatologist near Phoenix.

The Arizona senator, who suffered severe sun damage from his 5 1/2 years in Vietnamese prison camps, gets an in-depth skin cancer check every few months because of a medical history of dangerous melanomas. He has survived three bouts of melanoma that included four lesions.

I'm not voting for him, but I'm still glad to hear that his cancer hasn't returned. Best wishes for continued health, Senator.

Now, can you work on getting us the same health care YOU get?

You posted the same thing when Obama got his hip checked out, right? The kind of injury that the rest of us would have just had to deal with? No expensive X-rays? Government (Congress) benefits, pensions, health care, etc., are obscene, for BOTh parties.

and Teddy Kennedy didn't have to wait when they found a tumor in his head. I have a friend who called-up the Oak Forest county hospital (public) here (Cook County near Chicago) and she has to wait 2 1/2 months for an appointment.

Obama is already working on exactly that. Its one of the reasons many of us are voting for him. So to answer your question, it was not necessary to post the same question when Senator O bama went to the doctor, it is part of his platform.

In his recent Larry King interview McCain said he had a lot of sun exposure on the beach when he was young -- didnt mention Vietnam.

Anyway it is a good thing there is no recurrence.

It is always a good thing when tests results come back negative for cancer. McC and his family must be greatly relieved. I wish him continued cancer-free health.

Yeah right blame it on Vietnam. I do not believe they would tell the American people if he had more skin cancer. Also, why is there no clamor for McCain's military records to be released? America needs to know...I think McCain has serious issues.

Good news? Yes it is but no it is propably not the full story.

Very doubtful that they are going to do full discloser, the way they were hugging his med records like it was the holy grail at that sham for the reporters a while back.

The The bad news is that he is showing signs of dementia and that should worry All citizens since he is running for this office.

McCain is a catastrophe in plain sight. It's astounding how the media gives this guy the velvet glove treatment, when it's so obvious he has serious medical issues that render him unable to handle the monumental responsibilities of the presidency. I have little doubt his camp is playing fast and loose about his diminished mental faculties, and perhaps the state of his cancer. McCain's refusal to release his military records is just another indicator of deception.

This is a monumental sham!
