RNC Ties Obama To ... David Hasselhoff

In the clearest sign yet that the Republicans have all but given up on even pretending that they have ideas worth selling to the American people, the Republican National Committee has sunk time and money into this ad, their "best guess" at what an "Obama ad in Berlin" might look like. Apparently, their best guess is founded on the twin precepts that Germans enjoy techno music and that in a crowd of 200,000 people, it's possible to find someone with "Marxist" friends. Even though it has nothing to do with Germans or Marxism or Berlin, the makers of this ad saw fit to include a woefully dated kicker of Obama yelling, "I'm king of the world!" Appropriately: a Titanic joke from a bunch of titanic jokes.

Anyway, NOW IS THE TIME ON SPROCKETS WHEN WE DANCE I GUESS!

PuppaX how old are you? The point is an attempt to create guilt by association. The Republicans lost their favorite recruiting propaganda when we won the cold war almost two decades ago. The RNC ad is an attempt to resurrect it. Pathetic.

It's an attempt to peal away young, first time voters from Obama. It is also an attempt to trash the triumph of Obama's recent trip to the middle east and Europe. We'll know if it works by watching where they air it and how much air time they buy for it. If they use it a lot, it works. If not, you won't be seeing it much. But then I don't have a Gameboy nor do I text message. So I don't have a clue if it appeals to the younger voter.
