Jerusalem Post:

The yeshiva student who pried Barack Obama's prayer note from the Western Wall has apologized.

Identified only by the first initial of his name, Aleph, and with his face obscured, the student went on Channel 2 television Sunday to confess that he took the presidential contender's note last week and passed it to the press.

...

"I'm sorry. It was a kind of prank," Aleph said, his hands shaking as he fingered the tightly wadded-up sheet of King David Hotel letterhead. "I hope he wasn't hurt. We all believe he will take the presidency."

Shame on this person for removing it in the first place. It's suppose it be private.

I do not accept his apology. he took something sacred and passed it on to a newsparer, and probably made money on a dishonorable act of cowardice. If he were truly sorry, he would have the guts to show his face! If he were my student, he would be expelled!

A "prank" and he should still consider himself a serious student and have any standing in his community for doing such a thing? He knew it was againest all the religion stands for to remove any note for a few minutes fame so is it in his sould now that somehow he can say sorry and go about his religious training like he picked thsssssssssssssssssssssssssse note up off the street and didn't dig it out of the wall that is the symbol of all the remains of their religious beginings church? Somehow it would seem like in a way the most sacreligious thing he could do beside throw feces at the wall to desecrate it by diggin into it for someone's prayer who put it there with the intention it would bring blessings to him and his family.

Maybe Congress can pass a bill forgiving his intercepting conversations between a person and God? They could call it the Yeshiva Immunity Student Act, or YISA. They could make it retroactive.

To remove the note the wall is considered sacrilege in Judaism.

Someone was going to do it eventually. I think it was smart for Obamas campaign to put it out there. You know with all the fuss someone was going to take it.

I guess that highlights a major difference in people. You see calculated shrewdness on the part of Obama and assumed that someone would take his prayer. I saw an honest appeal to the Lord by Obama and was disappointed and a bit shocked when the yeshiva student took the prayer.

Oh come on, there's no sense in hammering him after the fact... he took it, returned it and apologized.

Time to forgive the kid and move on. :]

He did a shameful thing, saw the error of his ways and has apologized. Time to move on.

The word "prank" has truly lost its meaning all of the world. Last year, we had people hanging nooses in the workplace for the amusement of their black coworkers. Now we have a young man who invades a private moment between a man and his God and calls it a prank.

Just like the nooses were meant as a sign of disrespect to blacks, the stealing of the prayer was also meant as a disrespectful act to this particular black man.

A prank is meant to be a joke. There is nothing funny here. Apology not accepted.

A "prank"?

He's a RELIGIOUS student?

A "prank?"

Shame on him.
He should be thrown out of that seminary.

It's all in teaching. Consider the number of adults who clap after a prayer. Hope this child learned a lesson from his actions.
