What does Britney Spears think about being included along with Paris Hilton in John McCain's latest political ad?

A representative from the 42West public relations firm declined to make a substantive comment to the Huffington Post, saying only, "why would we want to get Britney Spears involved in presidential politics?"

Sane enough. Rick Davis, perhaps you can answer that one?

Dumb ads for dumb people. Americans who fall for this kind of ad deserve a 3rd Bush term.

So McCain links Obama to Paris and Britney, because they are all famous.

I guess we should vote for McCain because we haven't heard of him?

If the campaign didn't get a signed release to use her image, why can't her publicity people sue the agency that produced that crap????

Agreed. Not only is this ad stupid, but it's ineffective. It'll probably just backfire. ...And we're supposed to believe McCain is swaying voters. Doubt it.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:00 PM on 07/30/2008

boatswain, maybe it isn't ineffective. He is shown with 2 very attractive, young white women who like to flaunt conventional morality. We have noticed that he is a black man. Isn't that the kind of code that enrages the racists? It's been used before and it was effective. McCain's ad isn't really meant to have people THINK about Paris and Brittany's political activities. It's intended to make racists FEEL anger and hatred about an attractive black man in the middle of two attractive white women. Doesn't make my blood boil, but I'll bet there are thousands who will respond with such hatred over the ad's underlying message that it will cause people to vote against Obama who wouldn't otherwise vote at all.

How ridiculous! McPitiful is in attack mode, & has been for the last couple weeks. Barack had better quit being "intelligent", & attack back! As ridiculous as these ads are, they stick with some people who are on the fence. Rethugs don't care if their ads are true or not, they just want to put them out there. They're "defining" Barack right now.

This ad is as childish as McCain is desperate. Hmm, is he (OBama) ready to lead, as the ad questions? Let's see -- Obama was smart enough to see that the Iraq War was a strategically and morally foolish enterprise that was a sideshow from the real battle against the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, while McCain was an enthusiastic war supporter from the beginning. That McCain tries to position himself as a visionary leader for having supported the "surge" is disingenuous posturing. The "surge" only partially ameliorated a gigantic quagmire that never should have occurred in the first place, and McCain helped that quagmire come to pass. Yeah, I think Obama is ready to lead.

Isn't McCain's base old folks over 75? Are they even going to know who Britney and Paris are? This ad reeks of jealousy.

The ad is pretty effective in that it will get free airplay and will be shown on web sites like this. The name of the game is viral videos. In the world of political ad buys, they are force multipliers to steal a term from the military. The Obama folks better get with it, provocative messaging will gain a life of its own. This is a case where, like the basketball instead of wounded soldier visit ad, McCain's people are being smart, even if it is a dumb juxtaposition.

You are right about the viral video game, but your wrong about the effectiveness. The republicans are turning their backs on these kinds of petty ads and its proving to hurt him. Despite media loops and free airplay. He is being viewed a petty, bitter, old man who is losing. And that's coming from republicans. He needs to stick to the facts and not this sort of juvenile tactic. He gains ground when challenges -B-Rock to clarify himself and to talk about his positions. Not with this sort of tactic. Also he saw how well it worked for C-linton. Why on Earth would anyone in their right mind wish to repeat Hilldogs disastrous campaign effort?

This is not the same kind of campaign anymore. These kinds of petty kitchen sink routines will not work. You better come correct with the facts or put your head in the sand because it's over.

I couldn't agree more. WHY is Huffpost helping to spread this filth of an ad around.

Description should be enough but enough free ad time for McBush.

The lesson from HRC isn't that it was ineffective - it was too late.

100 +/- days is a lifetime and gains aren't locked-in.

Mc is being crazy/old like a fox.

"The Obama folks better get with it....."
Just curious. Are you suggesting that they stoop to their level and start creating ads like this, or that they should defend themselves against these type of ads- which will likely result in even more airplay?

What you're really missing Paul is that sublimal taboo of white women and black male that is on that video. They are race baiting as usual and that was the intent of that ad. Fear mongering as usual.
