Sessions' Burlesque Club Fundraiser: Nothing To See Here

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) says the Las Vegas venue where he held a fundraiser was absolutely not a strip club:

It is what I would call a burlesque show where there's a woman who comes out and has a dress on... Uh, she never get's naked. There's no nudity, there's no nudity in there.

...

But the Forty Deuce Web site does not suggest the dancers are nude. And Sessions' chief of staff, Guy Harrison, tells the Sleuth there was no nudity at the fundraiser at all, just good old fashioned burlesque.

"It was as racy as a 1940's movie," Harrison assured us.

Is Harrison right? You be the judge: here's the club's photo gallery.

Sessions condemned Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's infamous half-time show as "liberal values." But he's already known as a bit of a flip-flopper on public nudity: at age 18, he streaked across the Southwest Texas State University campus.

C'mon, it's no more risque than a '40's movie.

Don't you all remember the pole dancing scene from "It's a Wonderful Life"?

This has to be bad news for Obama.

This must be good news for McCain.

Yep. Nothing to see here. Just typical Republican hypocrisy.

Are there STILL any "Hillary women" out there traitorous enough to their class to vote for McCain's party of nonstop misogyny? I mean it was always a wacko stance for
"Hillary's women" to take, once Obama had clearly won.Once NARAL saw it was over, they acted like grownups who care about their issues, and went with Obama. But it gets crazier and crazier every day for any Hillary diehards who are still nursing their resentments over fictional slights by Obama (as opposed to sometimes sexist media), like diehard Japanese dying for the emperor in caves on Iwo, in the face of the most unrepentantly sexist Party in the Western world. Can any self-respecting feminist vote for the husband of Cindy vs. the husband of Michelle?

How in the world did the republican party become associated as the religious family value party.
They are anti abortion-anti gay-anti giving. These are all against the law of God true enough. The thing about it is theY make up for it through their own greed, corruption, lies and deceit ,hypocrisy. I think they have been sadly misrepersented in our time. The truth is that the vitures that they truly possess ,which are the greed, corruption, lies and hypocrisy can and will also bring damnation!!!!!

Not to defend a Repug (I will never defend a Repug for anything) but anyone who knows anything about the Forty Deuce chain of clubs knows that they do not allow nudity. They actually are only about traditional old-style burlesque. Granted, the odds of a Republican lying his ass off are pretty good, but in this case, he's right.

Even if that's true, the fact that there was no outright nudity, only "burlesque", makes Republicans (the party of family values, doncha know) holding fundraisers there any less hypocritical?

Trying to imagine how many fuses in planetary MSM control rooms would blow due to 25/8 coverage if anyone connected to the Obama campaign held a fundraiser at a "burlesque" club. Trying. real. hard. to. imagine.

Or the veins in YOUR forehead that would be exploding as you would be pounding away at your keyboard railing against those "godless liberals" and their debauchery if the roles were reversed.

Common, boring and stupid hypocracy.

Having seen the burlesque show at the Forty-Deuce, I can say the performace is top notch. The performers are professionals. The dancers do not strip. Some of the bouncers a little rude and over the top, but that another post.

The problem with the majority of policiticians is that they are spineless and untrustworthy. They don't take solid stances on important issues, they flip-flop. They try to please all sides. These public servants are nothing but bureaucrats with a modicum of initiative. It's this lack of courage and conviction that fissilingual politicians commonly engender in the populace. They aren't commited to "one side or the other." Either you're for or against the apparent "vices" of our social classes; if so, then say you are and stick with the stance. Don't dance around it.

Politics are largely and primarily the management of public perception. Some are no good at it.

Republicons: the Party of family values. Also the party of "do as we say, not as we do."
