Katie Couric Explains Reaction To Bad Press: "If I Listened To What Every Bitch In New York City Said About Me, I'd Never Leave The House"

Katie Couric appeared on "The View" Wednesday morning and reiterated her position that she has "no plans" to leave CBS News after the election — and she revealed an interesting strategy for coping with bad press: turning to Sex and the City.

"I'm enjoying what I'm doing now," Couric told the ladies. "I really like the people I'm working with."

When pressed on whether she would stay through the end of her contract (which expires in 2011), Couric said, "We'll see. You know. We'll see. You have to constantly assess the situation. I'm enjoying it. I think our show is really strong. We just won an Edward R. Murrow award for best newscast."

Couric then explained how she has dealt with the negative press surrounding her possible departure and her broadcast's sluggish ratings — specifically how she handles that with her daughters (Carrie, 12, and Ellie, 17):

Carrie once said, when I was kind of bummed out about something somebody had written that was really nasty and had nothing do do with my abilities or my journalistic abilities...she said, "Mom, remember what Samantha said in Sex and the City: If I listened to what every bitch in New York City said about me, I'd never leave the house."

Up until now, I liked Katie's perkiness, even if her news broadcasts were often boring and inept. Honestly.
However, bragging about her 12 year-old daughter using such trashy language at her age, without Katie handinf her a slap across the face, was a great disappointment. I don't support bimbos...

Sorry, darling, but supporting beating kids for using a mild curse word, and I might point out NOT against her mother, doesn't exactly make you Parent of the Year either. If you are a product of getting slapped around, then it doesn't say much for the job your parents did. Simply sending a child to their room for the evening for saying a mild curse word is punishment enough in most cases.

I am NOT someone who is opposed to the occasional spanking, etc.; however, I do know that a good parent only very rarely needs to resort to corporeal punishment because a good parent is able to get his or her child to behave without having to hit them. Almost always, if you have to smack a child around, it's because you did a bad job of parenting in the first place by allowing the child to become so out-of-control.

Katie Couric is a total disgrace mainly because she is in the position of being a "first" for women in that particular spot. That, alone, is a "role model" position for young women who are interested in journalism as a whole.

And, the fact that she is a "deliverer" of the TRUTH supposedly is a major factor here. When she had McCain's comments edited falsely, that should have been a "criminal" event. She interviewed McCain and knew exactly what he said to her questions. So, even if she didn't cut the tape herself, she knew it was incorrect and should not have signed off on a falsely edited interview.

Plus, she seemed quite upset when she couldn't get Obama to say the "surge" was a success. She kneaded and proded and couldn't get to first base. Her whole appearance to everyone showed her agitation, which she should never have shown to the public.

She's become to much into herself and have gone far away from being a medium of the truth to the people. That's what makes her a total disgrace.
