Rapper Ludacris (who met Barack Obama in 2006) has written a song about the Democratic nominee.

Update: Barack Obama's campaign has denounced the song's lyrics.

Watch:

Lyrics:

I'm back on it like I just signed my record deal
Yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
Never should have hated
You never should've doubted him
With a slot in the president's iPod Obama shattered 'em

Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant

Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
If you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
And all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man

You can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history
The first black president is destined and it's meant to be
The threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
So get off your ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote!

Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw 'em like candy wrap
'cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents

Get out and vote or the end will be near
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!
'cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!

Lyrics aside - this song is awful. The beat, the rhythm, the flow, everything is just really mediocre and doesn't deserve any of the attention it's received.

Babloo, I thoroughly agree. It's why I wrote an old-school funk tune that's fun and celebrates O without all the negative crap. Please feel free to check out the music vid.

The song was great except for calling Hillary the B-word I know that how we speak sometimes but as a brother I like Hillary & I believe she should be the VP. She earned it to me why not. That way we win 50 states instead of 40. She will cauterize the female vote to a 70-30 at least.

"Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers"

The correct lyric is:

Said I handled MY biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers

I know it's kind of picky, but the difference is Ludacris is saying here that Obama said that Ludacris handles Ludacris' biz, not Obama's. Keeping it seperate. No more conflations, no matter how tiny.

I keep hearing some of the Far Left Liberal Elite Intelligentsia speaking about Creation as if they don't believe in it. And yet, this is the same group who are so fixated on Social Justice?

At the very heart of Social Justice and Civil Rights are the words, paraphrased: "We are endowed by our CREATOR with the inalienable right that all are CREATED equal."

Huh? If the crux of the Social Justice/Civil Rights movements are based on that one statement, then to be denying Creation as if it were a freakish and old-fashioned thought analysis from the distant past seems to be shooting oneself in the foot. . . . .hypocritical, if not flagrantly ignorant.

Yo, don't we have freedom of speech in this country? Luda is doing what he does best making clever rhymes about life. For those that can't relate think of it as comedy or your favorite line in a film.

This is art people not a campaign ad. As art it will cause controversy and stir emotions. I'm happy that so many artist are paying attention and contributing and using various mediums to comment on the current sitiuation. More political rap songs please ! Can't wait to hear the Mc Cain diss!

The song is an underground, unreleased song, it's not meant to be an anthem, it's not meant to be anything but a call to arms for the people who enjoy Luda's music. Stop over analyzing for God sakes!!!

And who cares what Faux News says or thinks, anyone watching Faux News isn't voting for Obama anyways. There are no "Swing" voters getting their "Fair & Balanced" news from Fox.

I understand why Obama must denounce it, but I do like it anyway.

With friends like Ludacris (and the Reverends Wright and Pfleger), why would Obama need enemies? There is something mighty special about Obama that he brings out the hate in his supporters.
08:14 AM on 07/31/2008
Right. It's Obama's fault the country is pissed off.

It's not the short-sighted, globe warming energy policies of this administration that wants to drill in protected areas, or the high cost of gas while the oil companies rake in record profits every quarter, or the tax breaks for shipping of jobs over seas, or a corrupt justice department, or Enron loopholes, or being spied on, or being continually lied to,...

Yeah, that Obama sure is some trouble maker.

EXACTLY dac253!!!!!! I know Luda is tha best at whuut he does, but he could have really did more good I think if he had been a LIL more PC. Remember, NOT to say I don't love this salute to our man - cause I do.

Our "trouble maker" is gonna change tha world!

C'mon, Luda! You have more sense than this. You KNOW what this is; and you should have tempered the lyrics...

Is Ludacris being paid by Karl Rove? Ludicrously self absorbed gangsta rapper Ludacris does more damage with his little diddy than the votes he could raise among the urban poor - to whom he never once suggest register to vote and then vote for Obama. This is unfortunate.
10:01 PM on 07/30/2008
A. luda a g"ansta" rapper? lol not all rappers are "gansta" rappers (even the ones who claim to be) and chris luva luva (his dj name when he was on atlanta radio) has never been a "gansta" rapper.
B. i have seen faaaar worse in the comments section here on huffpo about some of his targets.
C. did you listen to the song or read the lyrics? he does say vote, and the whole song is about obama
D. surburban and rural white youth by faaaar more of his albums then urban poor.

p.s. he murdered that young buck beat

umm just cause someone raps doesnt make them a "gangstar rapper"...go get some knowledge on the subject before you put your footinyour mouth and sound like a right winger

go to a lyrics site and check out the lyurics to ludacris' "songs"

He could (should) have done away with these "Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant." That line only ruined the song.

Or he could have said, "Hillary hated on you, so that OPTION is irrelevant". That would have been MUCH better if he had to mention Hillary at all, which he didn't of course.

I love Luda and like the song - I happen to agree with everything the song says - PC or not. It's too bad that he couldn't have been less negative and kept more in line with Obama's message.
06:32 PM on 07/30/2008
OK. Enough already with the politically correctness, bullsh!%.
As much as I support Sen Obama, the statement was BS and sometimes his campaign tends to protest a little to damn much. Luda is a rapper, if you don't like his music, don't buy it. I actually like that song. I think it speaks volumes. LMAO

It's not about the campaign protesting, it's about the constant scrutiny and insinuation coming from the media and the GOP. Ludacris should have been more mindful of his words and as someone else said, he could (and should) have made a record that was more complimentary to Obama's message of unity and bringing an end to the divisions that exist in this country, if he really wanted to show his support for Obama.

While bringing people together sounds so wonderful... i don't want people who believe in creation, want to lynch gays and call any black person a "gangsta" or a gangbanger to be brought to my side. While this may sounds conceited i honestly don't think that one candidacy or even a generation can change mindsets at such a basic level.
And the people who are going to associate this song, or Ludacris with Obama are either not ones who would have voted for him anyways or they are the independents (or uninformed which is a better description) who put bush in the white house..
