Police Brutality

The YouTube generation has brought a new degree of awareness to the problem of police brutality in America. Check out HuffPost's list of the top 5 viral videos of police brutality below:

Our first two videos came into the news within days of each other. Video from last Friday's Critical Mass ride in Times Square showed a rookie NYPD officer lunging at a cyclist and shoving him off his bike. The officer has been stripped of his badge and gun and is on desk duty pending an investigation into the matter.

Days later, an NYPD officer was caught on tape brutally beating a suspect with a baton.

In May, Philadelphia cops swarmed a car and forcefully removed its occupants, before kicking and beating them on the ground. Four officers were fired and four more disciplined following the incident, but no criminal charges have been filed against them.

Then, of course, there is the darling of the police brutality video- "Don't Tase Me, Bro!"

Finally, not all officers are as skilled with their beatings as those in the previous videos. This guy managed to tase himself during an arrest.

In video #4, I see a punk putting on a big performance for the cameras and his audience. The cops were fools for taking the bait and playing into his hands.

Is the police commissioner still at his desk? He should be fired first. If Mike Bloomberg cannot do that then he should resign his job too. The cops became animals. Civil Disobedience is the best revenge!

Most of these cops are hate filled cowards who handle situations like these scared out of their minds. What normal person would get such pleasure beating or tasing someone like that. None of the people who were assaulted were armed and yet they were severely beaten....For what? Cop pleasure? There is no defense for this stuff. I would take their badges and incarcerate them for their criminal actions.

cop shocked himself....awesome. I live in NYC and these guys are out of hand. They think they own citizens. Plus i walk by a station where i see them fill up their personal cars with gas from the police (read taxpayer) gas pump. I think they consider their badges are made of gold these days.

Covertly take a video of them gassing up their cars. Take it to the media. They'll have a field day with it. And when I read about it in the New York Post, I'll believe it.

This is why many people have no respect for the police... no professionalism at all much of the time. How can someone who doesn't follow the law themselves be expected to justly uphold it.

Maybe there was a time when being a police officer was a respectable job, but that day is long past.

This is pretty tame compared to the cops in Ozark Missouri who tasered a boy 19 times because he failed to respond to their commands. The reason he fail to respond to their commands was because he'd fallen off an overpass bridge and broken his back, check it out.

what goes around comes around.

Just like the Tennessee DUI tack force officer arrested in Michigan for DUI and resisting arrest.
Whot!

With regard to the kid who was tasered at the John Kerry Q and A...

He definitely brought it on himself. He repeatedly struggled. You simply don't do that with a law enforcement officer. He quite literally earned getting tased in my opinion. Just a rabble rouser. He was warned repeatedly that he was about to be tased and continued to fight and struggle.

Stupid kid. No respect.

Unfortunately, on here you are preaching to the kid's choir.

What about Rodney King? He has to be number one. His beating started th 92 riots.

To be clear, the not-guilty verdict on all charges in the trial of the 5 (or so)
officers of LA's finest who beat the stuffing out of Mr. King was actually the
match to strike the fire of those riots.

If you recall, the trial was moved to Simi Valley, a distant suburb of LA
where many white police officers resided.

"They didn't beat this idiot enough. He should be beaten every time he reaches for his car keys." -- Howard Stern on Rodney King, whom he calls "The world's most dangerous millionaire".
