I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Jon Stewart John Roberts

Wednesday night on "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart poked fun at CNN's "American Morning" — specifically, their song choices as they lead into stories. Stewart mocked the show's penchant for choosing topic-appropriate songs to lead into segments — such as The Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane" to lead into news about Hurricane Dolly, or David Bowie's "Changes" to lead into, well, just about anything — and he also pointed out host John Roberts' ability to use the song titles to ad-lib segue into his report. Of course, as Stewart noted and Rachel Sklar has chronicled, Roberts was a Canadian VJ (known then as J.D. Roberts), so he knows a thing or two about working his way in and out of a song.

" I'm gonna need a video tape to believe that happened."

Classic.

Jon Stewart needs to be very careful about dredging up old pictures of news types.

Living in a glass house Jon shouldn't be throwing stones at Roberts.

Jon Stewart on MTV was NOT a pretty sight.

If you liked this show, check out the one aired last night (the one with Brian Williams).

It may be Jon Stewart's best show ever. If you didn't see it, try TIVOing one of the reruns.

The show mocks cable network political news promos and does a far better job of eviscerating the McCain campaign than anything the Obama campaign has remotely attempted. And the give and take between Williams and Stewart was near-perfect.

Given the recent lack of decent journalism on the tee and vee, it looks as if it's time once again to look to the Daily Show for the best insight into presidential politics.

I can remember watching JD (the pride of Clarkson Secondary School) 'hosting' (the term VJ hadn't been invented yet) a show called "The New Music" back in the dawn of the music video, when Much Music and the 24 hour video channel weren't even a gleam in anyone's eye. I think the show was on, oh, maybe two must-watch hours each week. Hot newcomers were bands like the Police, Thomas Dolby (of course), the Straycats, and the Boomtown Rats.

allow me to correct your misperception. Long before there was MTV, the was The New Music hosted by J.D. Roberts. Then, it became MuchMusic,( although this was after the debut of MTV). The New Music and MuchMusic often played videos that were banned from MTV. Censorship is lame.

Okay, Ay, but what I am speaking of here is the lame attempt to make the news "hip" and "with it" by introducing music, which should not be the topic or mentioned, or even acknowledged. It's lame to begin the news by referring to the song which is playing, supposedly, in the background. Lame, ay. Ay? And the "electric slide" move? Hilariously Lame, AY!

Yes, John Roberts, back in the day. However, he's the least person deserving of ridicule over at CNN (except for Cafferty, Gergen, Toobin and Brazile).

Roberts actually does a good job with the news. And what a difference it makes when he subs for Blitzer on "The Situation Room".

Maybe Blitzer would be better with a VJ background (and mullet?)

The problem is that 'news people' ar enothing more than actors. By and lareg, they are uniformed, frat and soroity kids who never earned a nickle in their lives. But they are cute and handsome and they get on the news and own the bully pulpit.

The whole thing makes me sick.

Hehehe, amusing. And got a question. I use Firefox 99% of the time, but get no sound from the video. Had to load with IE6 to hear what was being said. That a prob with Firefox or maybe I'm missing some java somewhere?

Nope, but guess I'll look it up, hehe. I been tempted to buy the Cloanto softward, ummm, what's it called, Amiga Forever I think. Turns your PC into an Amiga with just software. That OS had some amazing internet utilities. Tempted to put Linux on my old backup computer and using that, lol.

So ?
What is the point of this title ? Dull day perhaps ?
John Roberts was VJ at one point, it was an honest living I thought. Anyting unethical in that ?
Jonn and Kiren`s show is so much better than any of the other early mornong shows...No one is screaming at the top of their voices like the ones on MSNBC.
Not to mention Roberts is easy on my eyes.. ...
