Politico:

Some of John McCain's most visible and engaged advisers have advanced positions that appear to conflict with the Arizona senator's stances on hot-button topics.

Republican faithful have grumbled in recent weeks about the lack of a consistent message from John McCain's campaign on key issues, leading observers to wonder what McCain's top advisers are thinking.

The answer, it turns out, could be part of the problem.

Some of McCain's most visible and engaged advisers have advanced positions that appear to conflict with the Arizona senator's stances on hot-button topics ranging from climate change and oil drilling to tax cuts, contraception and education.

Of course, it's not unusual for politicians to seek advice from a variety of perspectives.

But the ideological mishmash in McCain's Kitchen Cabinet lends itself to questions about who's crafting the campaign's message and highlights the tricky policy record McCain is struggling to navigate on the campaign trail.

The Republican Party is headed for a nervous breakdown. McCain is the very microcosm of it. Think about it. Nominating a guy who graduated 894/899, crashed 5 jets, and tortured for years as a POW. This person is the best candidate the Republicans can nominate?

What does a Republican believe today? Public service? Not the ones in Congress. Fiscal responsibility? Riiiiight. Nation building? Trillions for Iraq while our infrastructure crumbles. Individual rights - they've delighted in creating the survelience state (DHS, wire-tapping). States Rights? See Bush v. Gore. See Medical marijuana. Competence? Katrina.

The Party is aging, like McCain. It's irrational - the religious nutjobs control their biggest voting demographic. It's paranoid - they distrust anyone who speaks a different language or has a darker skin color. Can't get much whiter than McCain. They obviously hate all Americans who vote not-Republican. It' really wants to be a private political club that caters to the members only.

Seems to me, the only agenda they have is to maintain power. There is no significant accomplishments they can point to, after 8 years in near total control, that has benefited the 98% poorest Americans. There is no honest vision to articulate for the commonwealth. Their end is maintaining control of the Executive Branch......and any means necessary is the justification. Because they know the game is up if they lose control of the Executive Branch.

Try articulating that message if you are John McCain.

Maybe they're having trouble understanding him.
I'm sure even McCain himself has trouble understanding what he says.

That's because it DEPENDS on the day of the week...... McCain doesn't agree with McCain from one day to the next....... he can't remember what he said from one day to the next..... taxes, torture, etc.

Judging by the recent ads, his "advisors" appear to be in the age range of 12 - 18. If he is such an "honorable" man, why has he not revealed both his medical history and his service history? What is being hidden? We went though a similar phase with Georgie, and look how well THAT turned out!! What medication is he on that makes him give that clenched teeth "smile" at all the inappropriate times? He is from the old school of politicians, we need a good housecleaning. Every government agency should be audited, root out the deadwood. If they start at the WH, it will be empty in a couple of weeks.

Mc Cheese recently said that there is one senior advisor who he is always in agreement with. They are lock step with respect to policy and virtually end each others sentences. Their fashion sense is identical too. Aides, who ascribed it to his breezy nature, had to tell Mc Cheese he was talking to a mirror.

From what I understand, Mc Cain doesn't speak for the campaign. So perhaps the campaign should let us know what it stands for.

For someone who's as un-intelligent as McB (note: he was a worse student than Dan Quayle), he should really learn to listen a bit more to other views. Put the temper aside.

Please stay the course, this getting to be fun watching him wither away.

Now if the general publice could get access to this information before Nov 4th, they could form honest opinions of whom to vote for.
