I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Whoopi Elis Mccain

America's breakfast table heated up again Thursday morning as the ladies of "The View" engaged in a screaming match prompted by the latest John McCain attack ad. Exactly two weeks after Whoopi and Elisabeth's showdown over the N-word, the pair — along with Joy Behar — sparred about McCain and Barack Obama.

The discourse was civil enough, if juvenile, until Joy suggested that McCain's celebrity equivalent is Quaker Oats and diabetes commercial star Wilford Brimley — at which point a pig-tailed Elisabeth asked, "You wanna get into friends of candidates? Let's talk Rezko. Let's talk Reverend Wright. Let's talk Ludacris."

When Elisabeth got some pushback on that point ("This is about the ad," Whoopi reminded her), she cried out, "This is a free country!" at which point the fun started.

Watch (transcript below)

Elisabeth: It seems to be that you can only have one opinion in this country right now.
Whoopi: Oh really? After the last eight years you can say that? Don't go there, please. On one opinion, I know. I got eaten by what one opinion should be in this country.
Elisabeth: I'm saying, you experienced that.
Whoopi: Yes I did, so that's not what I'm doing. I'm trying to get this ad out, to talk about this ad, whether you think it's good or whether you don't think it's good. Not because he went here... What was wrong with that ad is, Is there no other way to do this? John McCain is a great guy. I like him. But this was beneath him. He is a much better guy than this. And that's what agitates me.
Joy: Well, he used to be. He used to be. He's not anymore.

Anytime Elisabeth or any other GOP supporter gets on these rants, they should be told "score board" because they need to come to terms with the fact that their poor decision making (contrary to the other half of the country's warnings) are responsible for our country's dismal state. So maybe they need to consider that before suggesting the other half has it wrong.

Whoopi tries but few media in America are telling it like it is. McCarp seems to appeal to subliminal desires for a hero/father -- or grandfather.

Unhless the media stops molly coddling this man and helps the nation know him NOW, we will be playing boom, boom, boom Iran and wonder what happened to us -- again.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH SEN. MCCAIN?

Are McCain's many factual errors, blunders, and often bizarre presentations due to, as his campaign jokes "senior moments" (bad enough) or are they indications of a cognitive illness? Could they be a precursor to Alzeimers disease? I ask this not to be rude, but as a question that needs to be addressed.

I see the press being hogwashed on this: one hour to review his medical records -- under extreme pressure with no followup that I've seen -- is a pass. His heroism – 40 years ago -- is no excuse to cheat the American people of "the information they need to govern themsleves in a democracy." (quote: Prof Meicklejohn, who testified before Congress why the First Amendment MUST be sancroasanct.)

I see McCain as a very confused candidate who MUST resort to defaming his opponent because he doesn’t have anything else to offer. What’s worse, he may possibly be a very dangerous choice if his cognitive abilities are as defective as they too often seem to be.

A military veteran – and medical writer – for Sen. Obama for President

EH is typical of the way most Republican'ts feel these days - pure hysteria. Thanks to Bushco, Reagan's Republican Revolution has run its course. We will soon have a new Democratic President and enough of a majority in the House and Senate that there will be real change in this country.

The discourse as shown by EH comes from pure desperation. I can't wait for Nov 5th - when all their little heads start to explode.

I have such faith in humanity's ability to rise up during adversity that I believe when times get really desperate, she can in fact become even more of an idiot.

having to defend a republican candidate, these days, after almost 8 yrs of the worst republican leadership in history, is at best a tortured loyalty. sen mc cain asked for sen barack obama to reserve commentary of the war in the middle east until after his visit, and after an extremely successful international tour, which included an overwhelmingly well attended Berlin speech, (with german citizens waving the american flag!!!) and the well received diplomacy of a professional presentation from barack, mc cain and his base (whomever they are) show their jealousy and insecurity by responding in what has been characterized by republican friends (sen chuck hagel etc) as dishonorable....and that is a polite and civilized way of saying mc cain has resorted to lies and the low road. trying to step into someone's shoes who felt loyalty to mc cain due to party affiliation would for me, be ending at this point. lying is what got us into the war, and 4 more yrs of that brand is a path america can not tolerate.

Go AHEAD WHOOPI! Truer words have never been spoken. Elizabeth has been hanging with Sean Hannity and Fox News too long.

The Views- Hasselbeck is married to the brother of Seahawk quarterback Matt Hastlebeck.

If he and his wife have the same elitist views as the "ditsy" relative- it will be difficult to root for him this year. Seattle should look for a trade.

E. Hastlebeck is all about Elisabeth.

The View is a cosmetic show- not worth the silly promotions in headlines??? Love Barbara- only she could manage to get these stupid, put on cat fights- in the headlines.
I earlier enjoyed their show and the laughter it created- it is now too political- and no longer worthy of listening to them playing amature politics- everyday!!! Receive our political news from commentators
who are more factual!

You know what’s so ironic about Elisabeth is that she ALWAYS speaks about how SHE has an issue with men who cheat on their wives…YET she adores McCain. I guess his indiscretions are fine, because he’s a republican.

Politics seem to bring out the worst in everyone. Even when two white guys are running for president opinions are strong, dynamic and almost like border guards: cross my opinion border and we go to war.

It is never more evident than now when there are two guys of different color running. We, and of course we all know this is the truth, have come beyond race to the real world where we all live, work and mingle in our diverse world with our politically correct ideas and ways!

Yea, right: What world do you live in? Race is an issue, disparity among people groups are an issue, the color of the politicians skin is an issue, it makes people act toward people of other races and skin colors in such a way that the reaction is "You'll never get to the Master's house. So you can take that burning down the Master's house idea and find new one because you ain't putting me on the plantation."

Whoopie certainly DOES know firsthand that free speech is a one way street for Republicans. (Remember when she got her head handed to her at a Democratic fundraiser when she got a little too uppity about George Bush?)

Elizabeth is a tool, in every sense of the word. The thing that kills me that people like her feel completely free to say the most obnoxious things but when someone calls them on it, oooooooh, you're violating their "free speech."

Yes, Elizabeth, you have a right to your opinion. And I have a right to say you're opinion's stupid.

On the bright side, I'm putting "The View" on my TIVO IMMEDIATELY. I'm missing entirely too many of these dust-ups!

In my opinion, Elisabeth is painfully stupid. She's just repeating what she heard on other shows. She can have her opinion but it wouldn't hurt to have some brain too. She should open her mind. And maybe a book.

I hope and pray everyone takes this opportunity, with the rise of the first African American Presumptive Nominee for either party, to have an open and honest conversation about race in America. The internet is a wonderful forum for communication, but so easily abused. I just find it funny that people are criticising Obama for having ideals, goals and vision of a better America. Unfortunately, conservatives and repubs are willing to vote for a person they don't like just so they don't have to vote for a Dem, or even worse a black male dem. They'd rather continue the country down the current course than trust in the other party, and be humble enough to think, "maybe we had it wrong."

I also find it amazing that thru every step forward that this country has made, conservatives were there trying their best to prevent it. The end of slavery, women's right to vote, civil rights movement, etc. Conservatives always love "the good ole days."

Just my two cents...

I have to say I fear for Elizabeth's safety. I fear one day her head will explode.
