Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) uses Barack Obama in another ad -- even though the candidate endorsed his Democratic challenger.

In the ad, Smith touts his work with Obama on gas prices. Watch:

In June, Smith put out an ad saying he worked with Obama to break a "20 year deadlock" on energy policy.

Democrats aren't flattered. The DSCC put out an ad criticizing Smith -- on energy policy. Watch

Most folks here in Oregon see through this. We know what kind of senator Smith has been. Linking himself with O won't help him this November.

I'm an Oregonian too and every stinking time I hear one of Gordon's commercials I want to scream, actually I do yell at the TV when he comes on and I call him names. First he used the two Democrat women to do his dirty work and have you noticed they stopped playing that one? Now he uses O, which is more b.s. He has voted with Boosh 95% of the time. Merkley better start campaigning or he may lose. Gordon's talking all bipartisan. I call Phooey on that!

I take it you dont like the man, but even I have to admit, the ad could be effective if you dont know the candidate. I am in Md and never heard of this guy, but the ad would have gotten my vote if I didnt know him or follow him closely.

Yea, so? No one's saying he's not popular in E. Oregon. He's from there for goodness sake!

But the Willamette Valley has 10 times the population of Eastern Oregon. And maybe a little more educated about the issues. The election of Smith will be won or lost in the Willamette Valley, like it or not.

A GOP running so hard away from "W", he's plank is 'Ahm jest like a (D)'.

Well who have to give him credit of initiative ... Oh wait he said he didn't want credit, when pointing out the credit worthy things he'd done ...

Hmmm ... Are all (R)z wearing Flip Flops this year ...?

Snerd

Okay this is definitely suspicious when you have another website of a Repub encouraging other Republicans to "do whatever you have to" to be elected including disowning your own party..don't live in Oregon but this sounds like a Ali move..you know.."rope-a-dope"..

Since you don't live here, we'll forgive you for not know that Smith has voted overwhelming with Bush and has just made a few exceptions within the last year because he knows that he is in trouble.

Name one thing he did a good job at? He voted with the cons 95% of the time. I do not believe your affiliation

Why do all Republicans look and sound so creepy and child-molesterish? I feel dirty just looking at this creep.

It's not going to work. Senator Obama and Jeff Merkeley (my apologies for incorrect spelling) are having joint headquarters in the Portland area. Obama is going to be very clear about who he wants to be the second senator from Oregon. And Merkeley has a great ad out on how many times Smith has voted with Bush.

Gordon Smith has anything but a stellar record and has for the most part voted with George Bush and big businessm including tax breaks for the wealthy. As for his campaign ads this time around, he has clipped and edited his opponent to the point of being almost laughable, calling out the votes for this state while saying nothing about his own votes for the country. Oregon deserves much better than Gordon Smith, and this is its chance.

Only in Oregon is a burlap sack considered a good background for a political ad.

He knows which way the wind is blowing. Nothing wins like a winner and grabbing Obama's coattails is a way to win. Of course he should be shooed away like a fly.

Oh Gordon honey, that's a really nice try but won't work, I mean should we list the reasons why?

Since I am not a resident of Oregon, I will reserve comment about the Senator. However...the ad he ran was good. It is not a negative attack ad, it emphasizes good things for people.

Too bad McCain can't take a hint from this guy, instead of listening to his Rove-acolyte handlers and going negative, negative, negative.
