GOP Senator Uses Obama In Another Ad

Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) uses Barack Obama in another ad -- even though the candidate endorsed his Democratic challenger.

In the ad, Smith touts his work with Obama on gas prices. Watch:

In June, Smith put out an ad saying he worked with Obama to break a "20 year deadlock" on energy policy.

Democrats aren't flattered. The DSCC put out an ad criticizing Smith -- on energy policy. Watch

I have no problem with a candidate who stays with his brand, but admits the obvious positive aspect of another's. This guy is OK by me. Republican and Democrat mean nothing in and of themselves.

I am not falling for this one, although he seems to be smitten over O I still want him to lose. It is a VERY close race in Oregon.

It will be closer in the senatorial race than in the presidential race but the coattails will work for Merkeley. Smith is not smitten with O. This is just political. He's voted with Bush about 95% of the time and has only recently broken away a few times in the last year because he knows he's an endangered species. I think my part of the state (central) and the east will go Smith, but central and eastern Oregon is not the decisive factor. Merkeley is well known in the progressive I-5 corridor, and all it takes is the Tri-Country area and Eugene to put him over.

I am an Oregonian and this guy is a hypocritical creep who has voted his concious more than several times against the will of Oregonians. His actions clearly have redefined the meaning of representation. He needs to be retired along with all the rest of the republican goons.

If he really did cooperate on a bi-partisan effort with Obama, that's fair ball. He's entitled to tell his constituents about it I'm sure that the Obama campaign would be the first to agree. People who do what's right deserve whatever political reward there might be for it. That doesn't mean that I think Obama should have endorsed him instead of the democrat, but begrudging him the acknowlegement for his act is meanspirited and counter product.

If, and its a big If because I don't know the details, he really did do something tangible. If not, then screw him.
