New York Daily News:

A source close to the New York senator confirmed she won't file a formal request to the convention asking to be nominated along with Barack Obama, who eked out the victory in their fierce primary slugfest.

"She is not going to submit the signed request," the insider told the Daily News. "People are still circulating petitions on her behalf, but this is a done deal."

Party rules stipulate that Clinton must ask in writing to be nominated herself and also submit a petition signed by 300 to 600 delegates. Without her signed request, petitions of support are meaningless.

Show all of her comments in context, please. She may have uttered this one sentence, but other sentences say she 'may' release her delegates, she 'can't control what others do', bla, bla, bla.

She is waiting in the shadows, letting others do her dirty work. I am not buying it for one minute. She is keeping an eye to the future and helping the GOP with her inaction. What a shrew.

Why is this headline still up? To give everyone a false sense of relief? Beware, it isn't true.

The story itself debunks the headline, in the last line. Here's a video of Hill saying she wants to be put in nomination, oddly her excuse is that it will bring unity. (Try to look away occasionally. The head-bobbing will make you dizzy.) http://dakiniland.wordpress.com/2008/08/01/731-hillary-video-by-simofish-must-see/

Her people have denied this story, her PUMAs have posted a video of her saying she wants to be in nomination, and the sentence at the bottom of this article makes this headline a lie. I don't know why HuffPo is still posting this bogus headline.

She's not working for unity. That's fair; the rest of us are unified. We'll win without her.

Is that the sentence you mean? It's vague. I don't trust H.

I think she's close on the debt. They can do a roll call of her delegates without her being nominated, I think.

It's two different issues.

Why are we just now hearing this? HRC has not done enough to help heal the wounds. She has retreated into her senatorial job and lets people believe that she may in the end still be the nominee if only her supporters would keep on blogging.

She needs to come out and say that she is willing to take responsibility for her reckless spending and purposeful failure to pay her vendors while her staff was living the high life. Those who are owned the big bucks from her staff should come out and say that they forgive her that debt. She and her supporters are still grumbling about the deficit she ran up with her extended run. She needs to do more. She made her mess and is asking us to clean up after it and by the way, why are we taking so long?

This smells like a stunt, like she wants to get it out there that she could still be the nominee and if she hears that there may be support for her she may decide that we want her after all.

Paranoia?

I guess it's because earlier this year I had this terrible cold, and as I lay on my bed in a fevered state I had this horrible nightmare that Obama had won the nomination on the same day that Terry Mac introduced HRC as the next POTUS.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:54 PM on 08/01/2008

She can't do anything to heal the wounds save putting her name in nomination. Then we will all know who the winner is and people will take their lumps. Like I said in previous posts, it's the usurping of the standard process, especially in an election this historic and close, that people will not tolerate.

Really? Will her supporters accept the outcome even if she is put in nomination and still comes up short on delegates? Promise?

I'll all for putting HRC in for nomination, although much like the last 4 months of her campaign it would be yet another HUGE waste of time and money, if it will get everyone to quit their incessant whining and complaining. But we ALL know that her diehards will then just find another reason to complain, probably back to the sexism crutch, and then proceed to push for an independent run (with what money or supporters, though, I can't imagine).

I am honestly just surprised that you would want Clinton to go through the humiliation of losing again, having her loss confirmed yet again. I am actually a former HRC supporter who was firmly in her camp until February, and donated a lot of time and money to her campaign - I was appalled by the campaign she ran, but I really don't want to see her repeatedly humiliated. Many in Clinton's camp seem to be conceding that many of her delegates are already firmly behind Obama, and there's no way any of Obama's confirmed would switch to her, so I feel sorry for her that she has "supporters" who would wish this on her. She knows that a rollcall at the convention would be both personally and professionally humiliating for her, so frankly I tend to believe this report, regardless of the strong hedging at the end. The Clintons' hate losing, and she's not going to sign up for a second flogging by the delegates.

Here's a video of Hill endorsing the notion of being placed in nomination, and encouraging those who want this. There isn't a date.

Don't bother posting there. If your post is anything other than a smear of Obama it will be scrubbed.

Thanks for posting it. I think she is correct. As long as the process is fair, her hardcore people will be more inclined to get behind the nominee. It's the manipulation of the process that is making people cross party lines. If she loses in denver (as you can see, she laughed off a revolt) than at least democracy ran its course.

Do you really believe that?

I have not heard a single thing from PUMA that suggests they will accept the outcome if she is put into nomination and loses.

Their goal has nothing to do with unity and everything to do with undermining the Democratic party and Obama's administration. I'm convinced most of them are Operation Chaos, and any real Hillary supporters are in this only to destroy things so she can try again in 2012.

I just read the account. It sounds as though this is still in negotiations, with Hill suggesting that it will be cathartic for her supporters. She'll lose the roll-call, of course.

I honestly have no real opinion on which path is better. If they don't nominate her, that will upset her backers. There will be an air that O blocked it and more fuel to the fire that he is not the legitimate nominee. If they do nominate her and go through the rollcall, the O supporters will continue their hatefest, which drives another voter away a day, in my opinion.

The article says she won't ask to be put up for nomination. It doesn't say, as the headline suggests, that she asked not to be. Two different things if you can actually read.

pupbayer, I know you are an HRC supporter. You are correct, the implication of this headline is not true. It's classic Huffpo nonsense, it's already been proven false at the Daily News, the author has been contacted and yet they're still running the story here - surprise surprise.

This belated move is strategic. I've learned not to take any thing she says or does at face value. I'm convinced that Mrs. Clinton herself, and her loyalists know that Obama won't win. She is trying to lessen the inevitable blame for such an outcome. I want Obama to win, but I expect him to lose narrowly for a host of reasons. Expect race relations to worsen.

At this point, anything she says or does seems shady to me. After the two smear books on Obama come out next week, I'm suspecting she will "change her mind" and opt to make herself eligible for the nomination. I agree with you, I think she's banking on an Obama loss, which is why she's trying to seem as "cooperative" as possible during this election, so that if she runs again in 2012, former Obama supporters will be more receptive to voting for her rather than blaming her for his loss.

O is doing great in speaking to all issues ... his Iraqi, economic & energy plans are far more comprehensive & visionary than Mc's incoherent, inarticulate blah, blah!

If America elects another half-wit ... "she" deserves to be dominated by the Euro and the Yen.

Hillary won't bring change, we saw her demonstrate ReThug strategies ... anything to win. And she is not needed to confuse O's campaign! It's up to the american people to think!

No surprise that today's Gallup shows them tied.

The hate has to stop eventually and we will come together when it is us versus the republicans. The problems now fester without acknowledgment. From the very beginning the media picked it's darling and is sticking with him. Not his fault; he photographs well and I mean no disrespect for that. For seasoned voters it has always been about the issues and nobody was as concise or convicted here than Ms. Clinton. All I heard from the other side was not to worry, he will do the right thing, and then to see him change, especially on the big ones like FISA. It hurts on both sides.

Let's stop saying mean things about Ms. Clinton because she is not a fashion model. Let's stop saying bad things about O that are not directly addressed to issues (he is our presumptive). Lets have faith in Clinton's Democratic loyalty and let's stop the wickedness. Discourse on how to come together than driving wedges between ourselves, it will serve all us better. BYW, anybody can beat McCain. Fact.
