John Mayer

UsMagazine.com:

John Mayer is among the celebrities calling for the regulation of how paparazzi conduct themselves.

The singer made his argument at a hearing about the matter at L.A. City Hall Thursday.

"I don't sit before you today to ask that you ban the paparazzi," Mayer, 30, explained. "I'm asking you to regulate it. Officialize it. Tax it. Legitimize it.

"I don't want to beg the city of Los Angeles to give me 1987 back," he said. "I love being a famous musician in 2008... This is about safety."

Mayer proposed the requirement of photographer credentials, marked cars for photographers and a "law governing an acceptable filming distance from an unwilling subject [to keep] everybody safe and misbehavior accountable."

If they don't like it, they can quit their jobs and work at burger king. Its part of the job. they knew it, before getting into it. part of the job. How many times did they wish, just wish they would be photographed by paparazzi, securing their idea of being "famous"? Privacy in the USA??? LOL. Fools. Do they not know what Bush has done in the last 8 yrs regarding privacy? Bunch of rich cry babies.

Where is it written it's "part of the job"? Where is that law inscribed?

Their job is to entertain, and to do it to the best of their ability.

That is all they owe the public.

What a callous and cold statement for Bratton to make. Celebrities are human beings and citizens too, just like anyone else....they are entitled to be able to walk the street without harrassment and stalking. They are entitled to protection by police if they are harrassed or feel threatened or put in physical danger in public. Princess Diana lost her life as much from being chased by papparrazi as the drunk driver behind the wheel. And while living, her life was made miserable by the papp. There should be an established distance enforced for celebrities in public -- 25 feet minimum. It should be outlawed to fly helicopters over a person's home and use high focus lens to photograph them on their private property as recently done to the Jolie-Pitts. I'm surprise more Hollywood celebrities were not out in large numbers to support this effort.

They take Mayer's photo because he's with celebrities like Jessica SImpson and Jennifer Anniston. He obviously knows that when he's with famous women, he's going to get his photo in the newspapers! You can handle it, John.

The tax code is about fairness. It's about taking from one group and giving it to another. It is not about making celebrities' lives more enjoyable.

Hope & Change

Angelina use to call the paps and tabloids and tell them when she would be at the Ivy. You can't have it both ways. Their PR people feed the beast when it helps them and they bite the hand that feeds them when they don't like it. Can you imagine what these celebs would do if ALL the tabloids and TV celeb shows just stopped tomorrow? They would be freaking out. If you want out John, stop running around LA with actress girlfriends and hanging out at clubs where paps hang out. Go live a normal life when youre off the road. They won't follow you to Boulder or Cape Cod. You LOVE the LA lifestyle...so live with it.
