New McCain Ad Stars Obama And Moses

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
John McCain debuted another stinging attack video targeting Barack Obama Friday, this time mocking his White House foe as "The One" -- a quasi-religious figure who "anointed" himself to lead the world.

"Can you see the light?" the hard-hitting negative ad asks, following up on Republican McCain's new campaign theme that the Illinois Democrat is arrogant, transfixed by his own celebrity and not yet ready to lead.

Read more about it here and watch it below:

The Obama campaign has issued a response. Read it from Ben Smith:

Barack Obama's campaign responded sharply to a new McCain webad depicting Obama as a parody of a biblical prophet.

"It's downright sad that on a day when we learned that 51,000 Americans lost their jobs, a candidate for the presidency is spending all of his time and the powerful platform he has on these sorts of juvenile antics," said spokesman Hari Sevugan. "Senator McCain can keep telling everyone how 'proud' he is of these political stunts which even his Republican friends and advisors have called 'childish', but Barack Obama will continue talking about his plan to jumpstart our economy by giving working families $1,000 of immediate relief."

Holy Moses!

Joe Lieberman was on "Meet the Press" on August 3rd as a McCain spokesman and he talked about the Moses ad that would be coming out and he said he thought it was cute and the Obama campaign should develop a sense of humor, he also thought the Spears/Hilton ad was cute. It is no laughing matter, the state our country is in and it is time for McCain and his cohorts to stop treating Obama as a joke! McCain cannot distance himself from the atrocious Moses ad. He has no problem using our brave military and sacred religious figures in ads to smear his opponent and decent people from every political point of view, should ask themselves if John McCain is even capable of understanding what the American people are facing and does he even care!

A February 24, 2005, Washington Post article begins:

There's nothing exotic or complicated about how phenoms are made in Washington, and, more to the point, how they are broken.

"Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame," says Barack Obama. "I've already had an hour and a half. I mean, I'm so overexposed, I'm making Paris Hilton look like a recluse."
That is pretty much the who and the why of Sen. McCain's explanation of his ad, is it not? It turns out he wasn't mocking Sen. Obama so much as channeling him. Or making a mini-documentary out of the Post's article.

Either way, it is just another example of the elite media not liking a Leftist's own words being used against him in the court of public opinion.

Is this legit? I thought all political ads h ad to have the "I'm John McCain and I approved this message" tagline at the end. This one is suspiciously lacking it.
02:11 PM on 08/05/2008
Other groups make ads, not all come from his campaign.. DUH

Thanks for your 1980s rebuke. My point was it's not fair to say this ad is "from John McCain" without that tagline.

With adversaries like this, who needs ad campaigns...
The Obama camp must be laughing at this ad...
Only a group of very extreme radical Christians, -and who wouldn't vote for Obama to start-, would "get the joke" and think that this ad makes any sense.
Does he think that, even those votes.... are in danger as well to be taken by Obama?
whoa.

If McCain endorsed this add then he is certifiably (Insane McCain.) This crap is like living in the middle ages. If you folks are not angry, then you are not paying attention. Let the religious wars begin........help!!!

How does it help our country to run such belittling ads against someone who clearly has given his all for his country? The Republicans would be happy if we didn't have a two party system at all.

Evangelicals make up 25% of the electorate. In my opinion, Republican leadership has mis-used Christianity (my faith) to further their true political goals of ultra low taxes for the wealthy(at all times) and corporate control of our government.

Senator McCain and many of his supporters are now trying to paint Barack as an (I'm sorry for the harsh term) Anti-Christ figure. It's sad that politics could go this low, but the Matthew25.org network was set up in part to combat these distortions. Please go to their link and sign a petition to ask Senator McCain to take down this ad and if you have a couple bucks, make a donation for Barack's birthday. Pass this on.

thanks

First and foremost, I am a Christian. I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible - that it is the word of GOD. I believe in the sovereignty of GOD. Based on 1 Thess. 4:13-5:3, I also believe in the rapture. This does not mean that I am not educated (I am) or that I spew hatred (I don't). I am also an Obama supporter. I believe that being a Christian does not mean that I cannot support Obama. It grieves me that some progressives bash Christianity and Christians as being stupid and hatemongers. Christianity is based on the good news of Jesus Christ. And Jesus taught love, servanthood, humility and treating others the way that you want to be treated.

The ad insinuating that Obama is the Anti-Christ or a false prophet is insulting, demeaning and is not funny.

Well I am a Christian and this is Sac-Religious. Sen. McCain crossed the line and has once again proven in a way that he never has before that he will do anything, Say Anything to get elected. That means even using God's word to hurt his opponent. What Would Jesus Do? Not This.

It' time for Change, if I didn't know that before, this proves it beyond a Reasonable Doubt. These Republicans and McCain have to go. This is just Disgraceful

I agree. They looked at Obama's trip to Europe and the ME and saw that people liked him and agreed with his ideas. So, they had to spin the story. Why is no one other than Obama questioning that? Where are the Dems that depend on our votes to maintain their positions in Congress? For me, Feinstein is a waste, but Boxer should be speaking up. And Maxine, shame on you!

This is what you get when you let people like Rush Limbaugh dictate your political strategy. While the ad might appeal to a certain segment already predisposed to making fun of Obama, those folks are probably already in the bag for McCain (or Barr). If the intent of the ad was to sway swing voters, people actually looking at the issues and waiting to hear the policies of the candidates then ... it missed by a mile. Ridiculous and school yard playground comes to mind.

I'm not even religious and I think this is offensive.
