As her chances of becoming vice president recede, some of Hillary Rodham Clinton's supporters are pushing for the Democratic Party's new platform to state that the primary elections "exposed pervasive gender bias in the media" and to call on party leaders to take "immediate and public steps" to condemn future perceived instances of bias.

The push for the plank in the party's statement of principles reflects a lingering unhappiness over Clinton's treatment during the Democratic primary, and over what her supporters say was an inadequate response from party leaders.

This platform should be just great for foreclosures, loss of jobs, etc. Stop looking for excuses and come to the table.

If HRC is serious about addressing sexism and gender bias then she'll make a groundbreaking
speech like Obama did about race. Otherwise it looks like it's just a politicial point she uses when it's advantageous. Sexism is different than racism in that women are partially to blame for sexism - i.e. their religious or social upbringing makes them accept a secondary role in society. Thus they don't even acknowledge that sexism exists. That's not the fault of politicians or anyone else - it's just the way society is. HRC is a perfect example - Bill Clinton, for all of his brilliance, is a grade A sexist when it comes to women. Yet the women and his supporters enable that fault to the point where he thinks he can do no wrong (which is why he can't get over his fall from grace during Hillary's campaign). Obama is probably the most pro-feminist President we've had as far as his background and personal life -- strong women everywhere and so far no indications of faults in that area. HRC's campaign was groundbreaking - and the way to move that forward is to take the positive from it and quit dwelling on the negatives that can't be changed overnight. As for Lanny Davis - he works for Fox News now so it's questionable to me what his motives are other than trying to have it both ways (trying to be relevant in a political debate working for the most biased media organization there

The only race baiter in the race was Obama. Let's not forget the dossier he compiled on the Clintons that he distributed to the media. Also, do you need a reminder of all Chris Matthews' sexist comments? Or is it ok when those comments are said about Hillary?

This is a very hateful and untrue comment. As if the religious right, Sr. Bush and company, had not already dug up all of Clinton's skeletons. Not to mention their popularity in Arkansas. You accuse Obama of distributing a dossier! Get real.

Well, one thing is for sure, they always want something.

If she would start working for the candidate and against the people trying to destroy the party, maybe she would get something she wants. Until then, she's just continuing to play into the old stereotypes and set us all back 40 years.

How magnanimous of them to want the party to focus on ending bias against all races, religions, disabilities, gender...

Okay, fair enough, as long as there is a plank censuring Hillary and Bill Clinton for pandering to the racists in Appalachia. You know, those hard working Americans, white Americans?

As long as the resolution also states that racial bias also was prevalent and demand and equal amount of effort be used to fight and combat that I;m cool. The media demonstrated multiple bias in the primary process and as long as there is no existentialism, meaning that gender trumps race, I'm cool.

This is just small.

Very, very small.

It's a huge step from demanding a VP down to "put this plank in the platform."

I get the impression that the ring leaders need to get "something done" before their critical mass evaporates.

IMO, "Hillary supporters" lost the moral high ground necessary to critique society regarding sexism by intentionally using racist sentiments against Obama. Hillary never once condemned the blatant racial bias of some of her supporters, even when it was stated outright that they wouldn't vote for a black man. She used race baiting tactics, and made arguments for herself based on racial fears.

Furthermore, some of the most offensively racist statements made during the campaign came from Hillary's staff and supporters- ie, Carville's comment that Hillary had more cajones than Obama, and Gibson's declaration that hill had "tesicular fortitude." Both say that a strong female must be a man in critical ways.

If they can't protest the sexism or racism in their own camp, what gives them the right to educate others?

Will the hrc supporters ever figure out that is was NOT the fact that she was female that was her failing? Wake up and smell the coffee for heavens sake.
IT WAS HER & bill that was the problem..............sheesh
She was old school, establishment and more of the same and Americans figured out that we could not have more of the same, we needed something better and we found it.

Over 50 female here, so her base was not as solid as she thought.

You've heard of "playing the race card"?

This is playing the "I'm a woman and I'm a victim" card - even though the things she said about O were more inflammatory and untrue.

The more they whine the more it guarantees that O will not select HRC as that would look like he is giving into to them and their incessant bit-ching. The only way he will select her is if he sees there is no other way to win the White House - and I sure hope it doesn't come down to that.

And you are right. Bill IS the problem. Both he and HRC have this sense of entitlement that is more arrogant that O could ever hope to be. Can you imagine the three of them in the White House? Way too crowded.

Should they bring up the type of treatment that Clinton elicited as well?
