Us Airways

Wall Street Journal:

Charging for checked luggage and legroom isn't enough for some carriers -- starting today, coach passengers flying aboard US Airways Inc. must pay for a drink of water.

This morning, US Airways began charging fliers $2 for bottled water and sodas and $1 for teas and coffees. First class members, trans-Atlantic passengers and a select group of others are exempt from the extra fees.

A cup of water isn't free? Wow. Their creative ways to nickel and dime us have only just begun.

I wonder when they are going to start charging us by the pound and/or charging a fee for being 'too heavy'. I wouldn't put it past those fiends.

Part of U. S. Airways used to be Allegheny Airlines, and we referred to them as Agony Airlines and that was twenty years ago.

All those water bottles and drinks weigh a lot, and people are going to bring more on board because of this policy, and U. S. Airways may end up shooting themselves in the foot. Additionally, if they get into one of those long, six hour delays onboard and someone collapses because fluids are unavailable when those on board at $2 a whack are gone, it will cost them as much in the lawsuit as they are making on this.

The United States airlines, automakers and other businesses are run by idiots, who do not plan ahead, and are not interested in the product they deliver, even in the best of times. That is why we are quickly becoming a third world nation in many ways.

Wait for it, next you will be connected to a machine and charged for every breath you
take in flight. Water?
Demand to bring your own or travel with another airline. Cheapskates!

They have lost this customer. I'll either pay someone else or skip the trip altogether.

F them.

You know, anyone should be able to survive a few hours on a plane without ANY food or water. If they can't, they should be in a hosptial. Take ALL the carts off, fire a few more flight attendants. Hey AA only gave us a glass of water on a 10 hour flight from South America. Let's face it, USA airlines suck.

The NSA will not allow a passanger to come thru with water unless they buy it after security check and the prices are too much in the airports now the carriers will not give water unless the passangers pay for it? Something seems very wrong with this picture. I wonder if it's time to fire the sea going vessels again to take people overseas? And I just heard that laptops can be confiscated from a passenger without reason. WOW take our freedoms from us at home so's we can give them freedoms abroad... Good going White House / Congress

This is interesting. US Air, based in Tempe, Arizona, must be aware of Arizona law that states that a party with water cannot refuse to give it to a person requesting it.

Are we all going to have to start pedaling soon, as well? All that work, and we still won't be able to get water!

In all seriousness, I flew us airways 2 weeks ago, and the whole bag paying deal was a total disaster. It hosed up the check in process beyond belief. Why don't they just raise the fare? Everyone is, and we certainly all know why! Damn, between the ridiculous TSA process (that really doesn't seem to have caught anyone with anything in all of these years), some airlines ceasing operations, fewer flights, and now the tedious little surcharges after the ticket purchase, flying is now like a trip from hell. It isn't like some of us have a choice, either. We have to fly for work, period. The ordeal of flying is taking a toll on all of us. This all seems to be coming to a head, and when it does, chaos will be the result. We have near chaos now sometimes.

Actually the sealed new bottles have a price, unsealed bottles are still free. There maybe a slight delay while the empty bottle is refilled from the public toilet, some times the toilet is occupied.

This is ridiculous. Just raise my ticket price a few bucks and give me the f**kin' water! Now the flight attendants are cashiers? Stupidity is as stupidity does.

Soon........
There will be an "air surcharge" for breathable air inside the cabin.
There will be a charge for exiting the aircraft.
There will be a charge for using the on board restrooms.
