I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Jimmy Justice

He calls himself "Jimmy Justice," a self-styled "cop-arazzi," armed only with a video camera as he prowls the streets of New York looking for law enforcement officers who are breaking the law. His targets are illegally parked city government vehicles -- particularly cars of traffic cops blocking bus stops, sitting in "no parking" zones or double-parked.

Cop cars blocking fire hydrants make him particularly incensed.

"Something like that is just despicable," Jimmy fumed, pointing to a police enforcement vehicle parked next to a fire hydrant on 33rd Street on Manhattan's West Side on a muggy July afternoon. "They're never allowed to block a fire hydrant -- but they do it."

He posts his best videos on YouTube and sends regular e-mail to the union representing the city's traffic enforcement agents, pointing out the most egregious parking offenses. And he has gotten results, he said, with some parking enforcers being fined because of his videos.

"I'm using a video camera as a weapon," he said. "I believe a video does not lie."

Keep reading here.

I wonder if he would consider franchising . . . in all the major cities! I'd carry a video camera for Jimmy's army any day! Only I would likely film them neglecting to do their jobs as well . . .

I see our local (small suburb) police vehicles running stop signs, parking illegally, speeding without lights and sirens going, and my favorite, following too closely. . . .all the time!

Wonder how many times he has been arrested? It will happen--soon or later.

But you just have to love this guy!

Nnnyeah coppers, you'll never get me, see, nnyeah! (James Cagney) I'm glad he's proud enough to do this, but it's sad it has to be done. There's something about power that makes people get complacent and disrespectful. Our President is case in point.

Well. I worked with police in a smaller city on a neighbhood watch program. These police were very good and did not do such things. But others did. You know, the ones like Chief Wiggam? The donut eaters, the ones whose exercise program was a done deal in the late 1980s. Yes, and even some of the younger ones, emulating these slobs.

I applaud anyone who catches police (without a motive of emergency), parking near a hydrant or in a no parking zone, weaving, running red lights (without the appropriate warnings), tailgating and all the rest--IN SQUADS. And I will be in the top bleachers cheering anyone who catchs an officer doing stuff like this in their own cars and in street clothes.

We need not only good cops but model citizens. There are plenty model citizens who would make great cops, if we could get rid of the dead weight. Right?

We have all leaned to be afraid of cops because they think they are above the law. I salute this man.

Note to the State: cameras work both ways.

Wait a second.

He's only filming the Parking Enforcement people and not the Cops. I think "Jimmy Justice" got a ticket one day for violating city code and now he's got his panties in a knot over it and has to film all of NYC Parking enforcement.

He's not filming NYPD, he's filming the Parking dweebs.

As for the parking by the Hydrant it never slows down FDNY. One evening in the early 90's in my LES neighborhood they simply broke the driver & passenger side windows and ran the hose straight through the car to a loudly cheering crowd of us onlookers.

Oh I Love New York! Good for Jimmy Justice. For sure, he would approach any law officer breaking the law regardless of color! No one is..above the law, even the President of the United States. God..bless America!

Now if he could only get the Ohio cops who routinely put on their emergency top lights just long enough to get their vehicle through a red light intersection, then proceed on their merry way. And the cops don't think we notice this sort of behavior??

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:04 PM on 08/03/2008

Well, yes, and you have to document what happens before and after such an occurance to be sure that they weren't going through the intersection to save a life or catch a thug. It is fine to say such things, but then where is the documentation so we know we are making a good citizen's collar?

Are all police officers in NY black females? Or Jimmy Justice is being picky?

Interesting..

That guy has major balls. Waytogo JJ!

JJ has no balls at all harassing traffic cops. They are under the restraint of being in the public eye and he knows it. Let's see our hero go after a few civilians who are breaking traffic laws, you know attempt a 'citizen's arrest'. We'd could make wagers on how long it takes him to wind up in the Bellevue emergency ward.

This guy seems really pathetic - what is his day job? Does he have one?

If he wants to make a point he doesnt have to be so rude and make an idiot of himself

well I have seen plenty of rude police officers at time when it was just uncalled for.
They deserve a little taste of their own medicine.

Perhaps maybe you he along with you should read vehicle codes. Emergency vehicles are exempt from parking violations and from posted parking signs.

While i see the point he is trying to make, this guy is super obnoxious talking as if he is some kind of Super Hero. I don't think he is all there.

This guy has a lot of guts and is performing a public service. If it's black women disobeying the law they should be called on it. The more hypocrisy exposed (on the side of law enforcement, other government officials, religious institutions, public figures, corporations, private enterprises, i.e., in any area of life), the better will be the world we live in if it brings counteraction.

This is citizen journalism at its best. It is a mistake to give anyone a free pass to break the law.
