Obama Wants Full Voting Right For Florida And Michigan Delegates

It seems like another lifetime ago, but remember all the fuss about Michigan and Florida?

After those states held their primaries in violation of Democratic Party rules, the party cracked down on them and said their delegates would not have a voice at the national convention in Denver. Then in May, the rules committee agreed to let their delegates have half a vote each.

Now Senator Barack Obama, the party's presumptive nominee, has asked the credentials committee to let the two states have full voting rights at the convention after all.

The request is likely to be granted since it comes from the all-but-certain nominee, who now controls the party apparatus.

Pandering, nothing more. In a way, this is actually more of a slap in the face than barring the MI and FL delegations. Having their votes counted now that the contest is already decided is patronizing to them and insults their intelligence. If I were one of those delegates I'd tell the DNC to go to hell. My seat on the convention floor would remain empty.

I would not vote for Mc Cain, but I have been giving the two scenarios very serious thought.

Obama wins and he wants to allow spying on private citizens; appoint a Supreme Court Justice who is soft on gun control, restrict abortion, allow the death penalty for non capital crimes; allow offshore drilling, encourage faith based programs (that will discriminate in hiring) and who knows what else, and the Dems in the House and the Senate, who will be a majority will go along with it because he's a Dem President, and they have to tow the Party line.

Mc Cain gets elected and wants to do all the same things and the Democratic Senate and House who have a majority will not stand for what this Republican wants to do because it goes against the Democratic Party core values and votes him down.

Just speculation, but after the last two months it doesn't sound too far-fetched to me.
