I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Hillary Clinton has made her way into a Republican Party attack ad, her words condemning Barack Obama taken entirely out of context to suggest that she was somehow criticizing his energy plan.

The Ohio GOP has a new web ad out, a minute and a half in length, that regurgitates the argument that the Illinois Democrat has no policy prescription for gas prices other than encouraging voters to inflate their tires. The only thing notable about the spot (which touts such specific John McCain proposals as "address climate change" and "promote energy efficiency") is that it pits the former first lady against the primary opponent she now endorses.

"Shame on you, Barack Obama," Clinton is shown saying -- a now famous clip from when she ripped the Illinois Democrat for sending out attack mailers on her position on NAFTA and health care. The Buckeye state's popular governor, Ted Strickland nods his head in the background.

Hillary had idiots running her campaign and I think less of her for her bad judgment in this regard.

Repuglics are desperate - of course they're going to use this wonderful material she provided.

I don't forgive her for the nasty turn her campaign took and then stampeded with.

It's pretty clear that Hillary provided Mccain with the perfect 'kitchensink' playbook and he's using it page by page. It clearly defines her as a candidate and how desperate Mccain is to use it.

please it's an election. do you think mccain and the REPs don't know how to run a presidential campaign and needed hillary to teach them?

and how about all the other DEMS featured in the ad -- John Kerry, Biden, Dean, Feingold?

Bill and Hill are Republicans, or should that be Replicons, who are shamelessly seeking power through the aegis of the Democratic Party. You can tell a person by their behavior and Bill and Hill had publicly sided with the McNothings over Obama during the primaries. Then of course they had the gall to ask the Obama campaign to help retire the debt they incurred in tearing him apart. Talk about shamelessness and classlessness, these two Reps in Dem clothing are the definition of both.

my gosh. it was Obama who ceaselessly praised Reagan during the primary. Bill and Hillary are lifelong DEMs. Bill is the most successful DEM president of our lifetime. And obama is a glimmer of potential. when he accomplishes what bill did, then let's compare notes.

that's what all successful campaigns do -- help retire the debt of the opponent who lost. otherwise, hillary would be more than happy to continue to have events in which she draws people to pay down her debt and talk about the issues. i don't think obama wants that kind of competition -- so in return, he's supposed to help her retire her debt. but it seems, he hasn't come through with that.

Thanks Hillary really!

funny...after mccain ran the ad against obama with britney spears and paris hilton, 1) britney instructed the mccain camp to leave her out of it and 2) paris' mom spoke out/wrote out against the mccain ad.

now mccain runs an ad against obama with hillary clinton and hillary says......(crickets chirping)...er, um, hillary says......(crickets chirping)...where are you hillary??

oh, yeah, that's right, she’s busy probably sending the sound bytes to the mccain camp for future ads....

nice unity!

just wait, the speech with her pretty much endorsing McCain over Obama is coming next.... she is has fed the THUGS their ammo and they are shooting it at Obama... have to wonder if this was her plan all along!

I don't know if she thought that far in advance- it was all about winning RIGHT THEN, no matter what damage it did to the party overall.

I wouldn't worry--there are many more important issues to be concerned with. And enough with the Hillary Clinton conspiracy theories, they are tiresome and just a distraction. Obama is the Democratic candidate, time to move on and stop obsessing about what did or didn't happen during the primary.

Hardcore, neoconservative Republicans are the only individuals to whom this ridiculous attack ad might appeal, and they will never vote for Obama in the first place. Moreover, since such folks have an extreme and irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton, it may well not even appeal to them.

McCain is grasping at straws in his attempts to save a sinking campaign. The only people who think that these type of ads have any effect are crazy right-wing attack dogs and overly sensitive hand-wringing liberals. The so-called swing voters, who are the important group to reach in the general election, join the rest of the nation in groaning and rolling their eyes at such obvious, false and pathetic attempts at character assasination.

Let's elevate the political discourse. Stop acting like John McCain and start treating others, even those you may differ with politically as if they have half-a-brain. If we all treat each other with intelligence and respect, even if people like McCain and his cohorts can't seem to do so, then we can find common ground and build a broad coalition of support for Barack Obama for President.

What people here can't seem to grasp is that the voters Mc Cain is targeting with those ads are HRC VOTERS. HRC voters will decide this election. And time after time, Mc Cain is doing a much better job reaching out to them than O. O is still reaching out to college kids and Europeans and ANYONE but the actual voting block that could possibly get him in the white house. Why do you think his poll numbers are so anemic?!

And yet you and Huffpo and the progressives continue your tirade against her which continues to push away her supporters. It's such a bad strategy, it's laughable.

did you see any of the ads that obama ran against hillary, a fellow DEM? you didn't condemn him for them, did you? she was gentle on him -- she didn't run the rev wright ad even though she had the clips. give me a break.

Hilliary was so bent on winning, she would have CHOPPED ANYBODY INTO SMALL PIECES
to succeed. . What a horrible person and horrible Democrat. . She deserves scorn, not applause, from her colleagues in the Senate.

Oh, so it's her fault they cut clips together of what she said and made them out of context? She wasn't allowed to ever say anything negative in a campaign? Get real. She is a hero in the senate, I guess no one shares your point of view.

you bet. last week she got an impromptu standing ovation at a DC restaurant when she left after having dinner with diane feinstein.

Every time she attacked Obama, I predicted "that will be on a Republican ad".

It is unfortunate. To Hillary, as Vince Lombardi said "winning isn't everything, it's the only thing"

And, through her use of underhanded tactics, she turned off the majority of the party and she lost. Ouch, eh?

Thanks, Hillary.

Perhaps now the Clintonistas will understand why so many Democrats were disgusted with Hillary's Republican "kitchen sink" campaign against her fellow Democrat.

But, Bill is upset. He never considers that the reason Bush is in office is because of his behavior. What a drag...

my god. bush is in office because the DEM candidates couldn't win. even kerry, whom i personally liked and voted for, just blew it. if a DEM can't win against bush in 2004 and now in 2008, don't blame Bill Clinton, blame the DEM nominee.

you sound like the republicans. they are still blaming bill clinton 8 years later. though i have noticed that even the REPs don't have the gall to continue to blame bill.

really, do you still blame your kindergarten teacher for not knowing how to draw?

Not at all. O was dishonest in his mailers regarding NAFTA and her health care plan, so he's responsible.

He should not have used that tactic. Now, it's backfired on him.

NAFTA ... is that the thing that O was so against, thought it was one of the biggest disasters we'd signed during the primary, that supposedly someone on his campaign told the Canadians not to worry that his "heated rhetoric" was just primary theatricals?

Wait, hasn't he since said that NAFTA isn't so bad, worth saving and things got "heated" during the primary?

No worries, I am sure Felicity will bring her full intellect to bring us back in to the informed light.
