Hillary Clinton Used In GOP Attack Ad Against Obama

Hillary Clinton has made her way into a Republican Party attack ad, her words condemning Barack Obama taken entirely out of context to suggest that she was somehow criticizing his energy plan.

The Ohio GOP has a new web ad out, a minute and a half in length, that regurgitates the argument that the Illinois Democrat has no policy prescription for gas prices other than encouraging voters to inflate their tires. The only thing notable about the spot (which touts such specific John McCain proposals as "address climate change" and "promote energy efficiency") is that it pits the former first lady against the primary opponent she now endorses.

"Shame on you, Barack Obama," Clinton is shown saying -- a now famous clip from when she ripped the Illinois Democrat for sending out attack mailers on her position on NAFTA and health care. The Buckeye state's popular governor, Ted Strickland nods his head in the background.

All they have to do is feature her going after Obama, it doesn't have to be accurate. When they do that it brings back all of the comments she did make. You know how her and McCain have passed the CIC threshold and Obama hasn't. I still expect to see that one in numerous ads. and you don't think the Moses ad comes from her talking about the skies opening and the choir singing? What Hillary did was give the McCain camp numerous ways to go after Obama and made his task much harder. People will not forget that.

I cast my last vote for Hillary in 2006, and if ANYONE runs against Charles Rangel, I am voting for that person. Neither she nor Bill have said one word while the Republicans have leveled their attack against Obama. They didn't congratulate him on a good European visit nor have they said one positive word about Obama since the Unity conference.
Bill pouts and Hillary well...she's feted on her arrival here but not by me and not by many other of previous voters NYC either.

Hillary's taken-out-of-context comment, used misleadingly and maliciously by the GOP against Obama, was a response to the Obama campaign's misrepresentation of her health care plan. So all the "I told you so comments" are misplaced. More importantly, making Hillary the issue here may be satisfying to some, but it plays right into McCain's hands by focussing our anger and energy on her Hillary rather than him. The Ohio ad appears calculated to divide Democrats. The previous posts suggest that this strategy is working.

Whining about the fact that Hillary Clinton came close to getting the nomination is not going to help Obama. You can blame her all you want. It represents your complete lack of understanding of politics. Obama should take a lesson from the Clintons if he wants to have any chance of winning in November. If he thinks he can combat McCain by having more money than any other candidate, think again. Remember how much he outspent Clinton in PA, OH, TX, and other places? How much did that help him? It's not that the primary was close, it is the fratricide. It's also the extended campain after she lost, the grudging concession that took 3 days rathe the same night, the barey perceptible support of the Democratic nominee, and the preception that here debt is more important than the Democrats winning, but most of all it is that Hillary showed McCain how to attack Obama, started the job herself, and gave McCain the ammo.

The GOP will not have to take Hillary's words out of context to use them very effectively against Obama.
