Obama 'Pocket' Ad Puts Campaign On The Offense (VIDEO)

Barack Obama goes on the attack with a new ad tying John McCain to big oil:

The ad is timed to coincide with the announcement of his New Energy for America Plan, which would give middle class families a $1,000 rebate funded by a windfall profits tax on oil companies.

Anncr VO: Every time you fill your tank, the oil companies fill their pockets.

Now Big Oil's filling John McCain's campaign with 2 million dollars in contributions.

Because instead of taxing their windfall profits to help drivers, McCain wants to give them another 4 billion in tax breaks.

After one president in the pocket of big oil... We can't afford another.

Barack Obama... A windfall profits tax on big oil to give families a thousand dollar rebate.

A president who'll stand up for you.

Obama needs to go on the offensive. I am happy with the ad but it was to defend against the pump ad from McCain which was aired weeks ago.

Obama has to figure out to paint McCain as the candidate who is out of touch and elitist, there are so many examples;
Cannot remember the basic facts, distorts his record to fit the politics of the day, rich wife, cabin in Sedona, $520 designer shoes, links to the Bush administration, all the gaffes he has made, need I say more. These are true and will make compelling viewing for undecided and independent voters.

He has to fight fire with fire, unfortunately in politics, the candidate who wants it more wins.

He has said windfall taxing on profits would go to help with rebate as well as invest in new technologi­es.. thing is the technology is there, Big Oil bought the patents and rights to much of it, to prevent it from getting available.

Also did you know Big Oil has tons of capped wells already drilled and ready to go in the U.S? They just dont take out the oil because it would drive prices and their profits down!!!
But many of those also even though 50% of their oil is there, is not cost effective to extract, but I guess there is a way to get lots of natural gas from them, and natural gas burns way cleaner..

No windfall profits tax! Economies need savings and investment to grow - but investors aren't stupid. Start taking away their profits here and they'll just take their investments overseas. And no kidding the oil companies are donating to McCain - they don't want to be hit with an unfair profits tax. Who can blame them? You would do the same in their place.

Go look up the profit percentages of various industries - the oil company profits percentage-wise aren't bigger than many other industries. The actual profit is big because the companies are big, but the percentage is unremarkable. Other industries have even bigger profit percentages. Why don't we want a windfall profits tax on copper producers, for example? Because that wouldn't gain a politician votes.
