I just heard that the GOP/McCain Campaign are going to give out tire gages. They think it is funny! I want to know were I can get one. I need a tire gage. I want to do everything I can to conservative energy. If you know where they are giving them out, let me know. Maybe you need one, too?
Here's a link to a WP story about Brazil's using the waste from sugar cane, among other things, to produce biofuels. They started looking to clean up and diversify after the oil crisis of the 70s. What I like is that they use the waste from producing sugar, not the edible part of the cane. If Brazil can do it, anyone can.

There are so many sources for energy in the world today besides petroleum. How about landfill mining? There's a lot of methane in them garbage dumps...
What they are doing, is breaking records in deforestation. Some cane plantations are as big as European nations. For example, would it be OK if we come to your state and strip every living thing off of it so we could plant sugar cane?
How exactly does he plan on accomplishing any of these promises?
I don't think I heard one explanation in this video clip, I know that it was edited but, seriously.
By what machinations is this going to happen?
He's going to lead Detroit to change, duh.
Without his leadership, there's no possible way for Detroit to build a hybrid car, let alone million of them.
All I know is if BHO is elected in November, sweater stocks will be through the roof.
Sweden will ban fossile fuels for vehicles from 2020. They will be completely self-sufficient on biofuels untill then. The same goes for Iceland.
The technical developments neccessary to achieve this are all there. You can buy them off the shelf, if you decide to do so.
It's only the lack of will to do so, that keep's them from being used in the USA - YET.
If he is not elected you probably won't need the sweaters the rest of us will be hotter than hell and it will carry over to you!!
MourningDude
I suppose you belong to that 20% that think the country is going in the right direction. Good for you. You are entitled to George Bush's third term and McCain will deliver it for you. For 80% of us who know that the country has been going in the wrong direction for the 71/2 years we are ready to listen to sensible solutions to reverse the course. You only hope of winning is by continuing to scare Americans about Obama.
Try reading - www.picken
No, we don't want "Swiftboat" Pickens! He can stick his plan!
HEy dummy, if he would explan three main points he would be talking for way to long...try reading his website to fully understand how he will implement these programs..
Try reading the full text of the speech.
He made some very detailed speeches about his economic/energy policies in June. The one that was called "Increasing Competitiveness" is very insightful.
It's called legislation - you know, it's the reason we have elections.
McCain was just on CNN calling for congress to get back in session to solve the oil crisis and even called on senator obama to join him in doing so ...he even offered to get off of the campaign trail in order to help in the endeavor.
He looked pathetic..
Happy Birthday Barack!
"A nation which loses control of its own energy sources, will soon lose
control of its own destiny." Joe Lanza
In 1976 I wrote a six page editorial for the Orange Coast College weekly titled, 'Energy Independence'. Below is just a short exerpt of my 1976 edutorial, which gives you an idea of politicians' promises that are only vote getting rhetoric.
Sorry Obama, you may have my vote, but as far as solving the Energy problem is concerned you are only reiterating Senetor Ted Kenney's 1976 Energy Plan that never happened.
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE 1976.
Senator Edward Kennedy’s approach to our energy problem is quite different. In introducing the 'Energy Conservation Act of 1976', he cautions the Senate, “Moreover, we must be very careful not to
commit ourselves to production strategies that lock the United States into high-priced energy sources that would leave our economy far weaker and less competitive in the world markets than would otherwise be the case. We must take prudent action to defend ourselves against the political and economic threats of another supply interruption by oil exporting countries. But is this objective better served through a policy that would ‘drain America first’, or through one that relies on a strategic petroleum reserve ?
Until we can see our long-term energy future with much greater clarity, the reasons for moving forward now with an active national program of energy conservation are compelling
Today's his 47th birthday. If you support him and haven't done it already, consider making a $47.00 donation.
And let's all start thinking of how good it will sound when Helen Thomas says the following to Bar ack O ba ma:
"Thank you Mr. President"
Has a nice ring to it.
Happy Birthday O B A M A ! It's today August 4th!
CAN DEMOCRATS WIN ON ENVIRONMEN
I'm in California paying $4.52 a gallon for gas. I'm listening to every word the candidates say. But, don't tell me after Exxon make $1,500 per second, over $12 billion dollars in 3 months the only way to better our situation on gas prices is to "drill...d
This "drill" bs is just to cover handing over cheap leases and tax subsidies before Booshco exit. It's a government giveaway to big oil - your American public resources. That's why Senator O's proposing a deal that actually benefits\the nation.
And more than 30 million is slated for offshore drilling. Kinda makes you wonder why they keep asking for more?

It's bold running an energy plan on something that isn't invented yet
__________
This is why conservatives are being left in the dust now on energy policy. They stil think that it's the turn of the century...
Hydrogen fuel cells will be a reality and power everything from cars to homes in about 10 years.
Electricity will be a combination of solar, wind and any other renewable.

There are hundreds of good ideas out there. What is mostly needed is cash for R&D. Doing away with the tax breaks for BigOil would go a long way towards funding.
This problem is very close to being solved and it's not because we're going to drill a couple of holes in ANWAR or the continental shelf. It'll be because the America people are inovative and clever.
GWB poured billions of dollars into hydrogen fuel cell research. He spent more money on alternative fuels research than any other President in history. Does he get any credit from the libs? Of course not, they are too busy praisingAlGore, who instead of leading on alternative fuels, personally told the rest of the world at Kyoto to take a long walk on a short pier.
links? proof?
or just more hot air?
"But while the president is talking about new spending initiatives, there`s no new money in the budget to spend. As Stephanie Dhue reports, the budget itself shows the money that`s there is just being moved around."
From nightly business report, feb 2006
"The president's 2007 budget makes dramatic cuts in energy efficiency and conservation, where the greatest energy gains of the last 20 years have been made. Last week, White House budgeters ran projections showing the new money could be short-lived, with steady declines in alternative energy research after 2007."

A new record for disproving your point... that took about 15 seconds.
GWB poured billions of dollars into hydrogen fuel cell research. He spent more money on alternative fuels research than any other President in history. Does he get any credit from the libs?
______________
I'll give him credit if you can prove it. Link to a credible source. Otherwise, you are just blowing hot air.
For someone who complains that no one is willing to debate you, you sure do have a strange way of positing an argument. Try leaving out the lies.
Every article that i've found that relates to your claim says the exact opposite. In other words, spending on alternative energy research has fallen year after year after year since B ush took office. As of 2006 they spending levels were below 1990 levels.
Here's a link you may find interesting.

Still waiting for you to back up your original argument..
No credit, because it was a far-future technology designed to appear to be environmental without having to push change now. There were changes that COULD have happened NOW that would have made a HUGE difference. Bushco pretended they didn;t exist, fought California when it wanted to make the changes anyway, and generally engaged in stall, delay and ignore tactics.
History will record that our last chance to get it right was lost by the Bushco Luddites; Obama may or may not be too late.
Sweden will ban fossile fuels for vehicles from 2020. They will be completely self-sufficient on biofuels untill then. The same goes for Iceland.
The technical developments neccessary to achieve this are there. It's the lack of will, that keep's them from being used in the USA - YET.
Exactly - American republicans refuse to accept change and want to keep slogging along in the mud never realizing that there is a sidewalk nearby.
Notice how the Republican-driven approach to the issue (drilling, fossil fuels forever) conveniently sidesteps anything relative to climate and global warming. In fact, they won't even talk about it. Not surprising, since over 50% of Republicans still don't believe in global warming. But I';m glad to see that Obama has not stopped reminding Americans that a good part of reducing our dependence on fossil fuels has to do with the environment, and not just "national security". And it won't be easy, because Americans look at the pocketbook first, and unfortunately aren't good at long term projections. And the GOP is counting on that to win the day.....th
misinformation and grandstanding (threatening to shut down Congress).
inflate tires is new innovations? wow!! he re-discovered the New World !!
No its conservation. and most people dont do it.
you forgot, to wing-nut republicans "conservation" means government
Unless there is a magical faucet sticking out of the ground which will miraculously pump out oil when opened, he is right.
Everything is funny to the GOP, have they become the party of clowns?
If they weren't laughing, they'd be crying from frustratio
If not for the MSM protecting his back, he would have been laughed out of the race by now... maybe Giul iani was right... maybe he WAS the better candidate.
altho he'd still get creamed by O
Libs have officially left reality. Reality is that most people don't bother to properly inflate their tires. Reality is that it's not going to change. Thus, waxing eloquent over the magnanimity of tire inflation is pointless.
Unless BHO is planning to have tire checking stations on the freeway, where people get hefty fines for non-compliance, it's a non-starter.
People are already getting a hefty fine for noncompliance by poor gas milage. It was a helpful hint. You don't want to save a few bucks, ignore it.
There you go confusing his sensible advice to motorists with his innovative energy policies. That what you republicans do. Mock sensible policies without offering us anything new to get us of the mess your party has created.
I use about 15 percent less gas by keeping my tires inflated and driving no faster than the California speed limit of 65mph. Multiply this by only the 250 million passenger cars registered in the US in 2006 and you can see, as does Obama, that the most immediate quick fix to our dependence on foreign oil is conservation, an activity in which all vehicle owners can participate.
The world will never go back to cheap oil - those days are over. As oil man T Boone Pickens himself says - "we cannot drill ourselves out of this mess". It's time to move past fossil fuels and rid ourselves of our dependence on them. Wake up people - The oil shortage and crises is not a Democrat induced problem.
