Robert Novak To Retire After "Dire" Prognosis

Just one week after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Robert Novak has announced his immediate retirement:

Robert Novak has announced his immediate retirement following the diagnosis of a brain tumor, a prognosis the Sun-Times' political columnist describes as "dire."

"The details are being worked out with the doctors this week, but the tentative plan is for radiation and chemotherapy," Novak said.

Novak has been writing his column since 1963. Last week, following the diagnosis, he said that he planned to be back at work soon, "God willing."

Though I don't agree with N0vak, I do wish him well in his fight against cancer......

My heartfelt sympathy to a man I usually did not agree with or like very much. I wish him only the very best and am very sorry for what he and his family are going through. May he have the best possible outcome.

It's sad when this happens. When he had his auto accident I wondered at the time if it could be due to something like this.

My father was driving, sideswiped a bus, said he didn't see it and didn't even remember it happened.
We lost him from a similar illness some months later.

I never was a fan of Mr. Novak but I wish him all good things and pray for his speedy recovery.

I was never very fond of Mr. Novak or his Politics.

But I do wish him well and pray for him and his family to have strength through these bad times.
