Tyra Banks Dresses Up As Michelle Obama For Harper's Bazaar September Cover

Tyra Banks will dress up at Michelle Obama for the September cover of Harper's Bazaar, according to a Page Six report:

Tyra Banks - the mastermind of gimmicks - is at it again. Banks - who once had her breasts examined on TV to show everybody they were "real" - is now dressing up as Michelle Obama for the September cover of Harper's Bazaar. "It's a full makeover," said one spy. "You know how Tyra likes to do that stuff. And she'll get a lot of press off it." A rep for Banks didn't return calls.

Fashion magazines' September issues are historically their biggest and most important of the year.

This is not the first time this election cycle that Bazaar has gone political without the actual assistance of the candidates. In January, the Hearst-owned mag ran a spread called "The Politics of Fashion," featuring cardboard cutouts of the candidates.

Vanity Fair recently named Michelle Obama to its "International Best-Dressed List."

Saw the pictures, Harper's has done this before with other famous people. The only difference is that this is a presidential candidate's wife. No big deal-- Tyra's hitched her wagon to a fast moving train. Let's move on -- not worth getting worked up about.

I don't see a problem with Tyra having fun, but it does seem a little gimmicky. But, who cares?

However, Tyra does not look like Michelle Obama, she simply looks like Tyra Banks with darker, wavy hair. Also, the male model does not look anything like Barack Obama (not only is the male model too young, but his facial structure is completely different).

So big deal. Tara Banks is silly, so what's the big whoop? Why is this story being treated like a serious issue?? Some has been model plays mommy "dress-up" and it's news? There isn't anything substitute about her beyond her pretty face and weave. Only woman more worthless the network fawns over is that hasselbeck loser from Survivor on The View. urrrpp....­oh god...I just threw up in my mouth a little bit just from reading the headline. This is comparable to Anna Nicole Smith dressing up as Marilyn Monroe. One's the unique original, the other's a big fat publicity hound.

Gimmicks work. Sometimes so well they permanently stick. Obama lost his 9 point lead in just a couple days from a McCain gimmick. Hillary was answering the phone in the middle of the night, and suddenly she was competetive again. Oprah is the queen of gimmicks. Everything from "The Secret" to a wagon full of animal fat. The problem with Obama is that he appears weak as he's always trying to "take the high road." Great if you're a yoga instructor but not great as the leader of world super power. You need to have firm conviction when necessary, and also be able to joke around at times. Obama is like the Wizard behind the curtain at Oz. All made up, no content, and the personality of a dead fish.
