Bush: "Really Hard To Tell" If China Has Improved Civil Rights

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE, Aug. 4 -- Three days before he is set to arrive in Beijing for the Olympics, President Bush offered a mixed assessment of China's role in the world, praising its efforts to curb the nuclear ambitions of North Korea and Iran, expressing disappointment about its recent move to help scuttle global trade talks, and saying that it is "really hard to tell" whether human rights in China have improved over the past eight years.

Bush said that he speaks candidly with Chinese President Hu Jintao about human rights, particularly religious freedom, and that he has shared his religious beliefs with Hu and Hu's predecessor, Jiang Zemin, urging them to lift restrictions on underground churches.

Let me think... The Chinese has again uprooted their people who suffered from the massive earthquake from their shelter to have a stadium to hold the opening of the Olympics. I find myself, in an excruciating cringe when I read these posts.

It happens almost immediately after hearing the President of the United States speak, in his own words.

If ever, anyone doubts that the coup of the American National Government actually occurred; all they need to do is listen to the president speak.or any speech by John McCain.

If you are able to control the sinking feeling in your heart, you will be left completely reminded that our government, the Republican party and part of the Democratic party have lost their way. Its really worse than ever before i our history because the American electorate have been willing and shilling cheerleaders for the coup at their own expense.

All because they permitted themselves to believe that by living in astounding debt, and despite the magic math of 21st century accounting, owning nothing and living in modern ghettos - they are somehow - successful. Successful enough to need high priced lawyers to settle property issues for divorces of over 50% of marriages.

So successful, that an otherwise sapient seeming human being would hurl scorn at the idea that the community should provide health-care.

So successful that they believed a myth could be their president and are tolerating another myth, albeit in his 70's, as a possible successor - mostly because its convenient and consistent with their own failure as a responsible electorate and powerful citizenry.

When C'heney and B'ush leave office and the R'epublicans suffer huge losses in both the House and Senate, and O'bama wins the presidency, it will feel as though a dark, suffocating veil has been lifted from the American experience. It is no wonder that B'ush finds it difficult to tell if China has improved its civil rights because, quite frankly, our civil rights have suffered greatly during his tenure. Clearly, B'ush's understanding and appreciation and respect for our Constitution is less than sufficient, despite having taken an oath to preserve, protect, and defend it.
