Washington Post:

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE, Aug. 4 -- Three days before he is set to arrive in Beijing for the Olympics, President Bush offered a mixed assessment of China's role in the world, praising its efforts to curb the nuclear ambitions of North Korea and Iran, expressing disappointment about its recent move to help scuttle global trade talks, and saying that it is "really hard to tell" whether human rights in China have improved over the past eight years.

Bush said that he speaks candidly with Chinese President Hu Jintao about human rights, particularly religious freedom, and that he has shared his religious beliefs with Hu and Hu's predecessor, Jiang Zemin, urging them to lift restrictions on underground churches.

Too bad Bush didn't admit that it was "hard to tell" if Iraq had WMD.

Bush is hardly one to talk about civil rights.

He's authored so many curtailments
of civil rights in his own country.

All in the name of national security and
patriotism, mind you.

Where and what is Bush's legacy?

If you need to know about his legacy.... I'm afraid you'll need some Ducosate Sodium.

"Bush said that he speaks candidly with Chinese President Hu Jintao about human rights," no doubt so he can get a few pointers on how to suppress them.

I'm sure he saw into Hu Jintao's heart.... although he asked the Chinese President if Horton ever heard him.

It's amazing that of all the rights that are being supressed, the leader of the free world should focus his concerns of freedom of religion for two reasons. First, there are more important issues, such as freedom of the media, censorship, emissions which are destroying the ozone layer, etc. Secondly, this coming from a man who believes he talks to a God who tells him that might is right, war brings more. I'm sure I speak for many when I say how much I look forward to saying goodbye to this man as president and, hopefully, hello to this man as a number in a federal prison.

My goodness, this was my first thought. too. With all that is going on in the world, all the human rights issues, all the unrest issues, Bush wants President Hu to lift restrictions on UNDERGROUND religions. In orther words, let the predators from bush's type of religion be free on the streets. Balderdash. I have worshipped several times in China in the past three years and they were very full and active christian churches. Protestant. No denomonation. Also Amity press in Nanjing prints Bibles by the millions...you don't have to smuggle them in. Granted there are some problems with open religion but for Bush to lecture Hu on it is ludicrous. You don't send an immature boy to do a mature man's job either.

Once again Carter had the right policy. No human rights for your people - no trade relations with USA. Too bad Reagan and his ilk laughed him out of office.

It is hard for Bush to know because he doesn't care (with his torture early - torture often mentality). Seems like Bush's human right concerns are limited to how successful his religion's missionaries are faring.

Anyway, we really don't have much leverage for anything while China is holding up our economy by lending us our debt money every night.

So then explain why Carter recognized the Pol Pot regime as Cambodia legitimate government when it came to seating the Cambodian delegation at the UN, instead of the newly-installed govt. after the Vietnamese had invaded? Despite the fact the Cambodian people rejoiced the removal of Pol Pot. ............Why has nobody on this blog ever faced reality and criticized Carter about this?

A real JOKE to hear Bush speak of civil rights. Bush used false flag attacks on America to conduct the greatest attack on American civil rights in the history of the country. By the way, how convenient that Ivans committed suicide shortly after Hatfill won almost $6 million for being falsely persecuted by the FBI for the anthrax false flag hoax. To close out this false flag operation (put it beyond more investigation) Bush and the NeoCons fingered a now dead man. Case closed.

So if a plane hit the pentagon where is all the debris? If the plane hit wouldn't the wings be somewhere? Why didn't anyone see a plane coming?

Everyone except a TOTAL fool can look at the 16 ft wide hole in the wall of the Pentagon before the wall collapsed, and KNOW that a 100 ton Beoing 757 did NOT hit the Pentagon. And, as has been noted, there was NO wreckage of a 757. YOU are a FOOL.

The right wing is composed mainly of cowards. Why? They are deathly afraid of the issues.
