I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Rally

Yesterday evening John McCain took part in the Sturgis Rally 2008 at Buffalo Chip in South Dakota, an annual tribute to veterans. The candidate was so enthused, he told attendees, that he encouraged his wife to participate in the festivities: "I told her with a little luck, she could be the only woman ever to serve as both the first lady and Miss Buffalo Chip."

As the Huffington Post reported on Sunday, the Miss Buffalo Chip contest is more than a little risque -- not to mention bedeviled by violence:

ESPN's Jim Caple described the as "essentially a topless beauty pageant. And occasionally bottomless, too."

"During a drenching rain Wednesday night, the contest broke up into smaller groups and one woman wound up dancing naked on a bar top. Her boyfriend/husband saw her and angrily dragged her away as she struggled to put her pants back on and muttered something about how, "It's only this one week a year."

How sweet. Sadly, the pageant also sees its share of domestic abuse, which even the event's organizers admit to Caple is a major problem.

Here are some videos from last year's contest (warning: probably NSFW or young readers).

Just looking for something to be offended by? It was a joke. And when did the left suddenly become prudes?

Not a prude, just not a fan of domestic violence and sexual assault, nor of an event where nothing is done to curb the violence. The candidate is a joke, but his appearance at this event was not.

Yes, just another joke....like ape rape and the C word. Hilarious.

I bet all those white women voters love it. They are laughing all the way to....well you know.

Keep up the comedy.

Not prudes, but aren't Republicans the party for "family values"?

I think I have finally figured this out....

Hillary Clinton was the first really competitive female candidate for president.

John McCain is the candidate who is entirely against women in every way....pay, reproductive rights, veterans benefits....and he proves it by verbally abusing his second wife and offering her for a nude beauty pageant.

What some people won't do to prove a contrast between the parties! Rock on, PUMAs, be proud.

It's just an old gray man reliving his youth with a culture that is doing the same. Beer bellied old men riding their big toys around. I'm such a big tough manly man! However, given McCain's past exploits and history, they love him because he's their celebrity. Not the leader I'm looking for.

Wow....they should call that campaign The Desperation Express.

He's always so willing to throw Cindy to the dogs.

Nice diversion from 'I'm pushing Bush policies.'

This was John McCain's attempt at appealing to the White Trash base - a new requirement at winning if you are a Republican.
Maybe he'll buy a ranch as a prop just to seal the deal.

McCain has some kind of hostility towards his second wife.

Is it maybe self-hatred that he used her for money and connections? Mr. Macho didn't make it on his own -- but rather than accept that for what it is, he uses her as a target for his pitch-black sense of humor. If he denigrates his wife, that means he doesn't owe anyone for the perks he's got from her wealth and friends.

Or maybe he feels guilty that his first wife has been alone all these years?

Could this also explain his anti-woman stance over his political career?

Bush had issues with his father, McCain has issues with women. Any chance of a normal president for a change?

Obama has got to use some shots from the Sturgis Rally in one of his ads :-) That is just too disgustingly scary! I certainly hope the MSM is talking about this...or are they passing this one up too! :-(

Of course, I don't see this mentioned in any of the other media sources. Thanks Huffpo!

These party animals need representation too, and if Barack ain't gonna get through to them, then you can bet your pickle-lickin' a$$ that McCain will. It's called playing politics...

Maybe they should just trade the Straight Talk Express for the Girls Gone Wild bus, at this point.

For the love of God Huffpo... how can I defend you against right wing friends as being relevant when you do things like this.

McCain has so much you can attack him on that trying to attack him on something as stupid as this does you no justice.

I'd expect something like this from Faux News, but no from Huffington Post.

How disgusting is this. How can women allow themselves to be used in this way?
Surley McCain didnt realise this when on .There were only 6 to 8 women who allowed themselves to be used in this way. This should be view accross America and not one woman would vote for him .
not any decent man either.

How low can Mccain go? He's a no-good racist, pandering fat-cat fear-mongerer who objectifies women. You really can't go any lower than hell.
