Rally

Yesterday evening John McCain took part in the Sturgis Rally 2008 at Buffalo Chip in South Dakota, an annual tribute to veterans. The candidate was so enthused, he told attendees, that he encouraged his wife to participate in the festivities: "I told her with a little luck, she could be the only woman ever to serve as both the first lady and Miss Buffalo Chip."

As the Huffington Post reported on Sunday, the Miss Buffalo Chip contest is more than a little risque -- not to mention bedeviled by violence:

ESPN's Jim Caple described the as "essentially a topless beauty pageant. And occasionally bottomless, too."

"During a drenching rain Wednesday night, the contest broke up into smaller groups and one woman wound up dancing naked on a bar top. Her boyfriend/husband saw her and angrily dragged her away as she struggled to put her pants back on and muttered something about how, "It's only this one week a year."

How sweet. Sadly, the pageant also sees its share of domestic abuse, which even the event's organizers admit to Caple is a major problem.

Here are some videos from last year's contest (warning: probably NSFW or young readers).

The wet t-shirt contest:

The pickle-licking contest:

This is very shameful, for Mc Bush to offer his own wife for a nude show amongst women of easy virtues.

The office of POTUS has been debased to a level that despicable characters now seek the same office.

Think about it. What's worse? That he KNEW this is what the contest was like and suggested she participate? Or that he DIDN'T KNOW what it was all about and suggested it. Either isn't a good option. Shouldn't a future commander in chief be better versed on such things? Plus, did you see the video of when he suggested it? He was reading off a piece of paper on the podium. So it was clearly thought out - and probably written by someone on his staff. That makes it a premeditated shot in the dark.

God help us if this man becomes president.

ATTENTION ALL HRC SUPPORTERS!!!!!!!

Listen, please don't take this as sarcasm - because I am NOT trying to be a jerk. Honestly.

But with all due respect to you, and to HRC herself... I'm pointing a finger at every one of you EIGHTEEN MILLION HRC SUPPORTERS right now. Just hear me out for a second...

Many of you HRC supporters said you would vote for Mc-Cane instead of Ob-ama.

I DARE YOU - EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU "EIGHTEEN MILLION" - I DARE YOU TO JUMP ALL OVER MC-CANE FOR THIS CRAP!!!! I HAVEN"T HEARD ONE WORD FROM ANY OF YOU FOLKS. WE'RE TALKING WOMENS WRESTLING, TOPLESS BEAUTY CONTESTS, PUBLIC NUDITY, AND LOTS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE SITUATIONS... AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANY ONE OF YOUR "EIGHTEEN MILLION" VOICES!!!

MC-CANE EVEN JOKED ABOUT HIS OWN WIFE ENTERING A TOPLESS "BEAUTY CONTEST"!!!

Let's be real for a minute - if Ob-ama did this EXACT SAME THING during the Democratic Primaries, tell the truth - just be honest - EVERY ONE OF YOU "EIGHTEEN MILLION" HRC SUPPORTERS WOULD HAVE BEEN TEARING HIM TO PIECES - AND YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN ABSOLUTELY RIGHT TO DO SO.

But EVERY ONE OF YOU is letting MC-CANE get away with this crap without breathing one single complaint. Now THAT sucks!!!!!

You're completely wrong to let MC-CANE get away with this without hearing your "EIGHTEEN MILLION VOICES".

Can we hear some disgust from ANY of you - even Hil-LarY herself??? I'd even settle for SEVENTEEN million

Ironic isn't it? And they'll still vote for him if it turns their stomach to do so. Better him than that half black Muslim guy that goes to a black Christian church and has a black wife that looks like Angela Davis - or was that just the magazine cover?

McCain suggests that someone who may be the future first LADY of this country could win a wet t-shirt contest. Amazing.

We've come a long way from the John and Jackie days of real class. I remember feeling so proud of the image they created in the world. Now we're a nation that says,"F--- the world. We're A-murkans. And we love our bikes, beer and bitches."

George W Bush has actually diminished the significance of POTUS. Now all manner of mediocre persons are parading themselves as presidential candidate.

If not for the debasement of the highest office in the land how can such a despicable character be among presidential candidates of a major political party? For a presidential candidate of the leader of the first world to suggest that his own wife take part in a nude show with other women of easy virtues is an international shame.

This is really, really sad and shameful.

McCain has absolutely NO honor whatsoever........why in the world would he offer his wife up to perform these type of acts......and the msm is acting like it's not a big deal BUT if Obama had done something this stupid CNN wouldn't be able to report anything other than this.

I think I figured out a [nearly] rational reason behind McCain's appearance at Sturgis. Usually, I just try to write jokes here, but I'm being serious this time.

What if McCain's people realize how tenuous his hold on the religious folks is? They figure some of these people will vote for him anyway, or not vote at all. So, they have decided to court the Al Bundy population (I swear I'm serious). Obama has stirred up some people who normally just don't care about politics. This is McCain's version of that.

So McCain's people are countering by kind of jettisoning the religious people to try to stir people across the spectrum too. The idea being to get people who might support him, but who don't usually vote, to act on their support.

This is all reasonable because the whole point of a campaign is to get as many as possible to vote for you. So the McCain people are attempting to mirror Obama's reaching out.

I'm not saying he is doing well at it, but in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised to see him hitting a couple of more places where the people are not the usual staid republican crowd.

I hope this makes sense. He may be attempting to be the new Andrew Jackson.

We may look back and say that this is what won it for him. I wouldn't be a bit surprised. In our society, it seems like it's always the one who wallows in the depravity with no compunction who comes out the winner. Presidential elections are no exception.

Idiocracy. It's not just a movie any more.

Given a choice, I'd have little hesitation letting my 15 year old daughter attend the Obama event in Berlin, but he** NO to the McCain debauchery-laced event in Dakota. What's next on the agenda for McCain? A brothel in Nevada? Wouldn't be a hoot if the maverick were to suggest that his wife could out do the residents there?

Probably a good decision, Colin. People usually have the good sense to not go to a bar and be offended by drinking. Or go to chruch and be offended by someone saying they might go to hell. See, it's called responsibility and those who would compartmentalize the world order to fit their narrow political perspective are the dangerous ones. Republicans are often pilloried for being narrow minded but just read the elitist posts here and you can see the real problem.

Wow! This group sure knows how to party! They don't seem to have any HOT GAY MEN there though... ;=)

But seriously, as the earlier Huffington Post article on McCain attending the Sturgis Rally pointed out, how would the MSM have reacted, and covered a (hypothetical) Obama attendance at such an event? It would be relentless.

there's a huge gay biker contingent in the sturgis area during the rally. and thousands of christian bikers rally without liquor, drugs or wet t-shirts on the north end of the sites.
of course, most huffpo readers find the sturgis rally morally offensive as opposed to, say, partying in totalitarian red china, the new garden spot and glitzy jet destination for all the rich guardians of freedom. maybe the chinese will beat and shoot some people to liven things up for the western press and officials. better that than wet t-shirts.
