John McCain has famously admitted to a "lack of knowledge" about economics. So when he talks about the economy later today in Ohio, it appears he will deploy the language of a policy area he does feel confident on: the surge in Iraq.

According to remarks prepared for delivery and sent out to reporters Wednesday morning, McCain will call for an "economic Surge to keep jobs here at home and create new ones."

Is the campaign in danger of relying too much on the power of Surge branding? Or has America's economic landscape actually become a battlefield?

The full excerpts sent by McCain's campaign follow below:

"It's time to get America's economy moving again. Companies like Merillat and families across Ohio face challenges in their business and around the kitchen table. Our energy prices are too high. We are losing jobs. Our housing market is in decline. The cost of everything is going up, and in the face of this, Washington is on vacation.

"Now is the time for action. We need an "all of the above" plan to address our energy crisis with alternative energy, drilling and nuclear power. We need to crack down on those who have abused our credit market and caused this housing decline. And we need to take action to support American businesses so that we stop jobs from going overseas and create more jobs here at home.

"America has the second highest business tax rate in the entire world. It is any wonder that jobs are moving overseas when we are taxing them out of the country? Unfortunately Senator Obama's plans would raise taxes on businesses even more. He has promised tax increases on income, tax increases on investment, tax increases on small businesses. This is exactly the wrong strategy. Raising taxes in a bad economy is about the worst thing you could do because it will kill even more jobs when what we need are policies that create jobs.

"What we need today is an Economic Surge to keep jobs here at home and create new ones. We need to reduce the tax burden on businesses that choose to make their home in the U.S. We need to open new markets to U.S. products. We need to reduce the cost of healthcare. And we need to end the out of control spending in Washington that is putting our debt on the backs of our children.

"Now is the time for action, and when I am President, we are going to get it done."

Good lord, where to even begin? A massive deficit, a crumbling infrastructure, a public educational system in the toilet, Social Security and MediCare/Caid becoming increasingly underfunded by the year, the dollar headed ever-downhill, and this idiot's answer is a tax cut? This is about as smart as Bush's stimulus, which just put us futher into China's pocket and will have to be paid back by all of us, the supposed beneficiaries, with interest. I guess that McCain just wants to complete the sale of the United States to China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, to name a few, all so that we can continue our foreign misadventures in the Middle East, given tax breaks to large corporations with record breaking profits, and all under the guise of a very flawed "trickle down" economic theory.

We can not get Obama into office fast enough.

The more he talks the more it becomes apparent that he knows next to nothing about anything. He is an older version of b u s h who was lucky that the nation was hung up on C l i n t o n 's scandles to not pay attention to any of the issues.

If the Obama campaign doesn't make an ad out of this, i will be very disappointed.

The "economic surge" is pretty strange -- will be interesting to see how America responds to McCain's desire to bring the battlefront to American streets and businesses. But, beyond all that, how is he going to do what he's proposed? He keeps saying "we need this, we need that," but where are the actual policies?

He'll probably use Blackwater mercenaries to attack voters into allowing off-shore drilling. He could send in Blackwater mercenaries to lock-down Congress and Wall-Street.
Oterwise, it's just another befuddled thought. He lives in a elite world where natural forces do not apply.

You have to ask the oil companies and the GOP heads for that.
Mc'Cain is running for Head Puppet, not President. He don't need no stinking details.

Mc Cain voted for the taxpaers to PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR BUSINESSES TO MOVE OVERSEAS!!!!!

Yes, thats right you paid to help American Businesses move overseas!

Now Mc Cain wants to pay businesses to come back instead of invest in new technology like JFK did to get NASA and the computer industry going.

HOW CAN McCAIN STAND THERE AND TELL SUCH OUTRIGHT LIES??!!! Senator Obama will increase taxes on small business? No. He plans to eliminate all capital gains taxes on start-up and small businesses, and provide a tax credit to almost all workers to eliminate small business owners being "double-taxed" as both owner and employee. He'll increase income taxes? No. He'll only eliminate the tax cuts Bush gave to the most wealthy. He'll cut income taxes by $1,000 for working families to offset the payroll tax they pay. He'll provide a "Making Work Pay" tax credit of up to $500 per person or $1,000 per working family. It will completely eliminate income taxes for ten million Americans. He'll eliminate income taxes for seniors making less than $50,000/year. Twenty-seven million seniors will not need to file an income tax return at all. McCain needs to stop listening to the voices in his head and pay attention to what Senator Obama is actually saying!

John McCain has a very limited vocabulary which hinders him from being able to think outside the box.

Lieber.man to Mc.Cain:

Ah, J.ohn, it's a "Surgeon General" we have. Not a "Surge-On General". Might want to make a note on that.

He will impliment a "stay the course" economic plan. Bush X 2. The only surge will be in bail-outs for cronies.
