Mccain

John McCain has famously admitted to a "lack of knowledge" about economics. So when he talks about the economy later today in Ohio, it appears he will deploy the language of a policy area he does feel confident on: the surge in Iraq.

According to remarks prepared for delivery and sent out to reporters Wednesday morning, McCain will call for an "economic Surge to keep jobs here at home and create new ones."

Is the campaign in danger of relying too much on the power of Surge branding? Or has America's economic landscape actually become a battlefield?

The full excerpts sent by McCain's campaign follow below:

"It's time to get America's economy moving again. Companies like Merillat and families across Ohio face challenges in their business and around the kitchen table. Our energy prices are too high. We are losing jobs. Our housing market is in decline. The cost of everything is going up, and in the face of this, Washington is on vacation.

"Now is the time for action. We need an "all of the above" plan to address our energy crisis with alternative energy, drilling and nuclear power. We need to crack down on those who have abused our credit market and caused this housing decline. And we need to take action to support American businesses so that we stop jobs from going overseas and create more jobs here at home.

"America has the second highest business tax rate in the entire world. It is any wonder that jobs are moving overseas when we are taxing them out of the country? Unfortunately Senator Obama's plans would raise taxes on businesses even more. He has promised tax increases on income, tax increases on investment, tax increases on small businesses. This is exactly the wrong strategy. Raising taxes in a bad economy is about the worst thing you could do because it will kill even more jobs when what we need are policies that create jobs.

"What we need today is an Economic Surge to keep jobs here at home and create new ones. We need to reduce the tax burden on businesses that choose to make their home in the U.S. We need to open new markets to U.S. products. We need to reduce the cost of healthcare. And we need to end the out of control spending in Washington that is putting our debt on the backs of our children.

"Now is the time for action, and when I am President, we are going to get it done."

he doesn't understand what the original "surge" means, and he clearly doesn't understand the economy, so i'd say this move makes perfect sense.

His economic surge will go the way of the Iraq surge. It won't live up to the original, intentional goals. It will keep changing its purpose until it means nothing at all.

You mean “we win by winning,” isn’t an actual plan?

WE ALREADY KNOW WHAT WE NEED BUT WHERE IS THE SOLUTION OR ANSWER TO GET US THERE. MCCAIN DOESN'T HAVE ANY SOLUTIONS. WHAT GOOD IS IT TO POINT OUT THE PROBLEM AND GIVE NO SOLUTIONS. HOW? HOW? HOW?

His answer to all those hows is simple - BORROW, BORROW, BORROW. That is what his mentor B U S H did and that is what he will do.

JMac is the real empty suit, I watch this guy and then look at the polls and wonder wth is wrong with Americans? I just don't get how this strange looking, no ideas in a 100 years JMac is basically tied in the gallup poll. There will be a whole lot of voting against ones interest come November.

JMac is a experienced professional liar.

[And we need to end the out of control spending in Washington that is putting our debt on the backs of our children]

Yeah out of control debt that his party caused, and HIS WAR is building up and he wants to spend MORE on the war in Iraq. HE already said he wanted to increase the budget for the Iraq war..... this in the face of 79 billions the Iraqis have in the bank doing nothing.

I would rather he kept that old wrinkly "surge wand" in his pants, if you don't mind.

Or he could give the wand to Ms. Buffalo Chip

Well,

Premature withdrawal is not what we need for the economy, prior to a climax of the Sub-Prim fallout is felt. McCains downswing in the polls, has him seeking ways to reinsert himself. The thrust of this surge shows staying power on such issues against Obama’s strong image, the long and hard campaign with Hillary. McCain to demonstrate that he masseurs up to Obama.

McCain knows the Ins and Outs of politics, he may call fellows in Congress for support as he drives toward his crescendo in the last days of this race. He must show America that as a member of the Washington power groups that his new thrust into the realm of economy is valid, not just a shot in the dark. Likened to Iraq, McCains commitments to not pulling out too soon, but is he up to the job? No early Withdrawal, stay the course, no timeline for for extraction.

But what of this new insertion of McCain, his urgent penetration of Economics? Will McCain find advisors to brace up his, heretofore, lackluster performance? Today, Americans want it all and they want it NOW! Can McCain plumb the depths of this new challenge to him? Admitted before, this is somewhat beyond his normal interests or previous persuasions. Not a labor of love for McCain, will he be comfortable in these new positions, of flip?

Seems, no more beating around the bush for McCain.

All the best

This week he's offered his wife up for a lewd /nude contest, said we'll win the war by "winning it"(does that mean the "surge" hasn't worked so far?) and now wants to "surge the economy" and "git 'r done".
Wonder who he's reaching out to with this mix?

All through the primaries we keep hearing from the MSM how Obama didn't have specific plans, evern though he did. Now McSame proposes essentially nothing other than tax cuts for businesses and we get nothing from the MSM questioning his lack of specific. Instead we get endless analysis of his latest ad attacking Obama. McScum is an empty hat -- when will he be exposed on this by the MSM?

"Now is the time for action, and when I am President, we are going to get it done."

If NOW is the time for action, why is he planning to wait for 5 months to take action?

Dear God the man's pitiful. He gets sadder and more reactive and pitiable with each passing moment. Any second now he's going to have a stroke on national TV in front of god and everybody. Where are his handlers? Why are they letting him make such an ass of himself?

An 'economic surge' is when Cindy runs up her interest free AMEX to over $600,000. I don't know if the rest of us can keep up with Ms. Buffalo Chip.
