NEW YORK — Cosmetics giant L'Oreal is denying it lightened Beyonce's skin tone in an ad.

"We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L'Oréal Paris altered Ms. Knowles' features or skin tone in the campaign for Feria hair color," the Paris-based company said in a statement sent to the Associated Press through the singer's representative.

The ad is in the current edition of Elle magazine.

L'Oreal, the maker of Garnier hair care and Lancome cosmetics, is the world's largest cosmetics maker.

A representative for Beyonce said the singer would have no comment beyond L'Oreal's statement.

Beyonce has been a spokeswoman for L'Oréal since 2001.

You do realize that black people's skin can tan just like a white person's can, right? Who is to say when either of these pictures were taken??? The flash could have been particularly strong in the second photo, or she simply could have had darker skin in the first photo. My children are bi-racial and in the summer they are far darker than their natural color. My daughter was nearly as white as me as an infant, but is a caramel brown complexion now. And of course different make-up can achieve different results. I do not see what all of the fuss is about...Beyonce has always had a lighter skin tone and for the person who posted earlier that she looked better with black hair...she has never had black hair. Videos of her as a child performing in her parents living room show that she had a medium brown natural hair color.

Deos anyone even know what color Beyonce's hair actually is? Maybe from when she was in grade school, but it's been died for years and years, ala Madonna.

Actually, the first picture looks like she is wearing bronzer. Light hair makes your skin look lighter.

Light hair makes the skin look lighter, regardless of your complexion or ethnicity. By contrast darker hair makes the skin appear eiher darker or washed out.

Ultimate status symbol around the world... a white skin. You go girl !!! Finally achieved what it took Michael Jackson years and millions to accomplish, and without a damaged nose in the process. Shame, shame... the tragic legacy of America's racism.

Are they actually trying to increase sales? They made her hair look hideous with their toxic crap! She looks way better with black hair.

Propeity

There are many evil things man often to his fellow men. Slavery is an example of human depravity. Selling skin whitening creams that disfigure countless women is another example of the banality and depravity of greed. that drive whiteness industry. It makes me feel sick, utterly sick. But do not try to turn this into a joke. I think you that you and I are at opposit ends of the whiteness industry!

"Light Skin" women is a coming theme in America created from slavery and the endless pursuit to be as White as possible (aka White is Right). Beyonce is yet another mixed person America is not afraid of, like Will Smith. These are "happy" Blacks who are no threat and see no need to question anything. Beyonce is old news (she took over for Mariah Carey), they new light skin Black woman is Rihanna. She pleases the eye and doesn't look angry or scare 40+ old white people.

See the next Beyonce here:

We are so silly in America, we don't know that when we die, we turn BLACK. See you in the cemetery.

The product that caused the permanent disfigurement the the black man in Barack Obama's boyhood story is the same product that causes utter devastation to the bodies of millions of black women such the woman in this You tube clip story. Two points: The toxic agent that causes this and countless other horrors stories is called Hydroquinone. HQ was discovered in 1938 in the US and has been causing utter destruction to black women ever since. However, Hydroquinone made makers of skin bleachers very wealthy. Currently, Hydroquinone is illegal to used sold inside Europe, but of course, not illegal to be manufactured there as long as these toxic products are made to be dumped to African markets. But, people simply smuggled these toxic creams back to Europe! However, Hydroquinone is perfectly legal in the US.

The lady was paid for the ad and more likely than not she approved the ad before it went to print. It's her image and her decision in what light she wants to be portrayed. (pun intended).
