Dixie Chick Emily Robison Divorces After "Conflict Of Personalities"

SAN ANTONIO — Dixie Chick Emily Robison and her husband, singer Charlie Robison, have divorced.

The San Antonio Express-News reported that Charlie Robison filed for divorce in January. The couple were at the Bexar County Courthouse on Wednesday when the divorce was finalized.

The divorce filing states their marriage had "become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities."

"We can confirm that the divorce is final. They remain the best of friends and their family is obviously the priority," a spokesperson for the Dixie Chicks said in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Thursday.

A spokesman for Charlie Robison, an independent singer-songwriter from Bandera, also said their family remains the priority, but he declined further comment.

The couple, married in 1999, have three children.

I find it odd the way this story make a big deal out of the the court filings stating the divorce was due to a discord or conflict of personalities. Virtually every divorce filing in Texas says exactly the same thing because that is the default statutory basis for asking for a divorce in Texas. The language is directly from the statute and therefore does not really mean anything.

It is surprising to read so many posted comments that have nothing to do with Robison's divorce. I do not know enough about her marriage, but the reason for their divorce sounds very convenient, almost nonsensical. What divorce does not involve a marriage that has "become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities?" Perhaps the sanitizing of Robison's divorce will inspire the Dixie Chicks to become apolitical pop stars, singing sanitized happy songs...

celebrities are definately better than the average person. the majority of celebrity divorces the people end up being great friends in the wake of divorce. wow, when the average guy has anger, hatred etc. and here these couples can be great friends is proof celebrities are so much better and function on a much higher, forgiving level than the mucky-mucks.
