From the American News Project:

Washington's neocons are alive and well, advising both John McCain and President Bush. Now many are saying Bush should permit Israel to attack Iran's nuclear facilities after Election Day before the new president takes office. ANP investigates as we chase down John Bolton, Bill Kristol and Frank Gaffney to see how far ahead these hawks are thinking. And a new report says the whole plan could backfire.

After everyone has had their fill of the current headline, THIS should be front and center at HUFFPO
I want to see this article as the headliner, it's of utmost urgency that we develop the dialogue that will allow this to become part of OUR national conversation. Please give this piece the top billing coverage it deserves.

A classic example of the insane psychiatric patients taking over the institution.

They have over-powered the attendant's and are in the process of destroying everything that is sacred about America, our reputation and our economy.

If we do not stop them before they kill again, through their new puppet McCain, America as we used to know it will never recover and will die.

Obama/Clark

A couple points. First, The Bush administration has no intention of war with Iran. Second, Senator Obama's stand on Iran is technically almost identical to Bush administration's. They both recognize that Iran's nuclear program is in violation of international law, and they both advocate a carrot and stick approach to curb that program. The main difference (for now) is Senator Obama wishes to offer more carrot than stick.

More carrot than stick??? Please explain. I would think the stick is tied to the carrot, no?

I'm not sure what to tell you, my point is pretty obvious. Are you trying to say that Bush's policy is equally carrot and stick, i.e. diplomacy first, sanctions etc. second?

Obama's position may be similar to the Bush administration's position. That's not the salient point. The Cheney/Bush administration has lied about it's intentions too many times to attribute any veracity to their public statements. We don't know what they intend to do re: Iran and they may well say one thing and do another.

Actually, to anyone who pays attention, including Ahmadinejad, the Bush administration's intentions are very clear:

Admiral: Bush doesn't want war with Iran
June 3, 2008

During an interview Tuesday on CNN's American Morning," Fallon denied a magazine article's assertion that he had been forced to resign over his opposition to a possible war with Iran.

Fallon: I don't believe for a second President Bush wants a war with Iran. The situation with Iran is very complex. People sometimes portray it or try to portray it in very simplistic terms -- we're against Iran, we want to go to war with Iran, we want to be close to them. ... The reality is in international politics that [there are] many aspects to many of these situations, and I believe in our relationship with Iran we need to be strong and firm and convey the principles on which this country stands and upon which our policies are based. At the same time demonstrate a willingness and openness to engage in dialogue because there are certainly things we can find in common.

The new neo-cons are babies of the old neo-cons and neither group have any idea of what will happen as a result of their adventures! Iraq, being one example, is a basket case and will continue to be one for some time to come! The neo-cons need to be stopped. How to do that? Find the financial sources being given to the institutes and groups pushing these fascists and boycott their products and demand investigations into their corporate activities! Dry up the money sources and these putrid little flees will sing an new tune! They are after all ~ chicken hawks!

One of the DESIRED OUTCOMES for these despicable neocons is long-term disorder and chaos after a first strike. That way the populace is disoriented, desperate, and vulnerable. Then the neocons can more easily install their own puppet regime in Iran and impose dracnoian and deeply unpopular "free market" laws, i.e. the selling off of all nationalized resources.

It's all Disaster Capitalism as defined by Naomi Klein.

Then like idiots we spend all our time and energy criticizing the chaotic aftermath, which is deliberate by design, instead of criticizing the evil of an unjustified, unprovoked first strike.

For the sake of our country, for the sake of America, we must ignore and put neocons, particularly pro Israeli neocons such as Bill Kristol, Judith Miller, Paul Wolfowitz, Thomas "Friedman Unit" Friedman and others out of the limelight and out of their circle of influence.

Those individuals and others only brought harm to our country and want us to fight Israel's wars.

The funny thing about the Neocon's is that they have such a terrible track record. Their wrong in about every decision or prediction they make. Take the example John Bolton and Bill Kristol. They have been consistently wrong on every policy issue. Bolton didn't want to negotiate with N Korea, the result was that not only was no progress made, but they actually did test on low yield nuclear weapons. Once Bolton "left" his appointment things on the Korean front improved remarkably. With such a terrible track record you would think that these guy's would have no support. Go figure!

With issues this dire, why are the above the fold stories about McCain attack ads, drilling offshore and John Edwards' infidelity? The neocons are trying to drive us over a cliff, but the media is completely complicit. News organizations: Get off the kool-aid!

Calm down. He doesn't have the political capital to wage this one. It's a no-go. Relax. Stop buying into every little media hyperbolic orgasm about the middle east. This one simply isn't possible.

Neocons don't care about "political capital"! Nice to have, but not necessary at this point, when the Bush/Cheney regime is about to leave office. Attacking Iran--the neocons' idea of "checkmake" in their global chess game--WILL be done, hang the consequences! Even if our military and the rest of the world opposes such action, an "incident" can easily be arranged between now and January to galvanize the ignorant American public into supporting the "defense" of Israel from the "imminent" Iranian threat/attack"! (See: recent forged CIA letters!) The "dress rehearsal" was Lebanon, and we saw a unanimous Congress give its approval of Israel's brutal attack and our supply of illegal weapons to them! Admiral Fallon's sudden resignation from CENTCOM this spring was the "canary in the mine"!

Bush and Cheney have shown quite clearly their disdain for Congress and the Constitution. Their attitude: Congress is not going to stop us; we'll get it done (quick 3-day air attack), and the next President can deal with the aftermath!

A much more imminent threat is US Special Ops currently in Iran. For a good overview see Seymour Hersh's report in the Aug 8 New Yorker. Very scary stuff....

McCain is one of them. His plan would be to fulfill the promise to "bomb bomb Iran."
