CNN:

Tickets for Barack Obama's Democratic National Convention speech at the Invesco Field in Denver sold out within 24 hours, according to campaign officials.

In early July, convention organizers announced the Illinois senator would officially accept the Democratic nomination at the 75,000 seat stadium rather than a 20,000 seat hall.

The conservative commentators are so textbook Rovian: attack Obama's strong suits: oratorical skills, intelligence, success, popularity.

Projection and the Big Lie are conservatives favorite deceptions.

Yeah, but, I understand the hottest band in America is opening for him.

That's what is really drawing the crowds.

(No, can't really remember what the band is.....but I assure you, they're they hottest band in the land.....sold out the Holiday Inn businessman's bar in Cleveland just last week.)

Conservatives don't read the Bible.

They just quote select passages when it suits them.

They're all going to hell for that.

Americans wait in line at Starbucks. They wait in line to get the latest iPhone. They wait in line to see the Batman movie. They wait in line at airports. They wait in line to see Obama. Don't you see? Americans LOVE TO WAIT IN LINE. It's as simply as that as seen from other planets. It's like when folks on other worlds observe earthlings scooping up poop after their pooches. Who's in charge?

Americans are idiots. They worship celebrity. Britney farts, Americans want the story. They want to be able to tell their grandchildren "I saw Obama" even if he's 250 yards away, they're sitting in the nosebleed section and the image on the big screen itself is barely visible. I'll never understand celebrity worship.

Hmmm, funny how his speeches sell out yet he is neck and neck in the polls. Wonder if this speech will be as memorable as his one of deflection after Wright??? any one out there remember a line?... JFK said in the 1960 campaign " rhetoric does not qualify one to be President "

He's neck and neck in the polls because the polls don't sample correctly. Most are done via home telephones. These account for less than 50% of telephones in the US now. I would imagine if the polls were allowed to call cell phones, the margin would be quite different.

And yes, rhetoric does not qualify one to be president. Neither does being held as a prisoner of war!

Every poll the Obama led by 6 or less points against Hillary he lost that state. There is a racial factor that doesn't show up. If the ONE is leading by 10 + he will lose.

That's right and being a cell phone owner I think that Obama leads in all polls by at least 10-12 points and this will become quite clear when the election results start rolling in on election night! GO BARACK!

And they called Reagan "the great communicator" why?

You see, all this popularity is a BIG negative.
Why you ask. Well I'm still scratching my head about that one too. But, the GOP says it's a BIG negative that he is liked by so many... so being that everyday is opposite day, please vote for the old white haired dude.
Obama may thrill ya, but McCains gonna drill ya!

sounds like a dog-bites-man story to mean. is it any surprise there are 75,000 kool-aid drinkers with enough disposable income to hop in their limos (with tires fully inflated) and private jets and head to denver to witness the coronation of the new messiah?

my only question is whether their money will be refunded when hillary snatches the nomination from him at the last minute.

Do any of you right-wing wingnutz think for yourselves? I guess you didn't get the memo informing you that the McCains own multiple houses, their own jet and are worth upwards of a hundred million!

McCain supporters when they hear things like this, the first they say is. If he can pull so many people for a speech why isn't he doing better in the polls? Answering a poll is very different from being motivated to go to vote. Most people vote the values not their economic interests, which means that what really matters is turnout. Which candidate can motivate the greater of their supporters to turn and cast their ballot? Thats the whole ball of wax, turnout. If the ratio of people who are willing to leave their house to see Obama compared to McCain is the same on Nov. 4th as it is today, we are looking at a blowout! In Obama's favor!

Here we go again. We all just know that somehow this virtue will be spun as a vice, don't we. One would think that its a good thing for a candidate to be liked and respected by many - the more the better. One would think an inspiring leader is a good thing.

But no, to the wise man McCain it only proves what an elitist celebrity he (Obama) is. McCain, who on the other hand, can only troll supermarket aisles, to engage captive - as in trapped - audiences, will spin his inability to inspire as proof that he has passed the "Commander In Chief Test" - the one invented by Hillary.

Obama cannot win for winning; and if he were losing obviously he still couldn't win.

McCain, on the other hand, can not help but win, even as he is losing.

Don't try to figure it out. It's too complicated only to the rest of us - makes perfect sense to the wrong wingers though. Actually, I retract that last part. To the wrong wingers making sense is not a requirement; worse than that it's a vice to be avoided.

Grumpy McSame can only dream of accepting the reBushlican nomination, and giving his acceptance speech in front of such a huge audience (without putting them to sleep).

Obama has to to be careful: He has set the bar for himself very high. As his acceptance speech not only has to be a proverbial home run, but a grand-slam home run of a speech. This is because the world now knows what he is capable of doing oratorically, and nothing less is expected, for this the speech of his candidacy so far.

Grumpy McSame on the other hand, could lull his audience into a trance and nothing would matter, as he has become known as a boring inarticulate uninspiring dull orator. Just imagine if Obama was as poor at delivering a speech as McSame. He would have been rejected from the beginning, and no way would he be the Democratic nominee. Just another example of the double standard which Obama has beaten.

I know that democrats(especially early supporters of Obama) and Americans of different party affiliation are jazzed about Obama, but I never imagined that the tickets would be gone in one day.

I just hope mischievious Republicans didn't buy em up with an intent to be absent. I have a good feeling that 99% of those who bought tickets would be there.

Forget fast ticket sales, try to make hotel reservations for his Inauguration. They are booked up!
