Toiletiquette: Do's And Don'ts In The Bathroom

Our area is suffering from a drought. To save water, our family has adopted an "if it's yellow, let it mellow" philosophy toward flushing the toilet. We've proudly watched our consumption fall. But is it appropriate not to flush at work or at friends' homes? We are in a drought. Andy, Carrboro, N.C.

I applaud your family's economy almost as much as I don't want to drop by for a visit.

The problem with implementing your policy outside the home, however, at work or at friends' houses, is that absent a group decision to stop flushing, your unilateral act might offend people who are unaware of its noble intentions. They'll just think you're gross.

So until a group accord is reached, I'd keep flushing. Think of it as taking one for the team.

First of all what is going on in that pic is a Don't.
Looking to the occupied side and down would be a bigger Don't.

If you let urine collect in the toilet you will have to clean the toilet more often and in the end you will put more cleaning stuff down the drain than if you just flushed the toilet each time.
Been there ' done that, doesn't work like you planned.

Well the CDC says there is an STD you can catch from touching things espically in the toliet. It is a bug that lives in the small intestional . So I now grab a peice of paper and use it to touch all handels even at the sink and door when I exit.
