On Friday the Washington Post reported that The Atlantic magazine got hold of internal Hillary Clinton campaign memos. Today the Politico posts a sneak peek. Some highlights:

On Jeremiah Wright: "Does anyone believe that it is possible to win the nomination without, over these next two months, raising all these issues on him? ... Won't a single tape of [the Reverend Jeremiah] Wright going off on America with Obama sitting there be a game ender?"
On attacking Obama's foreignness: "All of these articles about his boyhood in Indonesia and his life in Hawaii are geared towards showing his background is diverse, multicultural and putting that in a new light.

"Save it for 2050. ... Every speech should contain the line you were born in the middle of America American to the middle class in the middle of the last century. And talk about the basic bargain as about the deeply American values you grew up with, learned as a child and that drive you today. Values of fairness, compassion, responsibility, giving back.

"Let's explicitly own 'American' in our programs, the speeches and the values. He doesn't. Make this a new American Century, the American Strategic Energy Fund. Let's use our logo to make some flags we can give out. Let's add flag symbols to the backgrounds."

On Clinton's confused message: "The internal discord over whether to attack Obama led some of her own staff to spin reporters to try to downplay the significance of her criticisms. The result for Clinton was the worst of both worlds: The conflicting message exacerbated her reputation for negativity without affording her whatever benefits a sustained attack might have yielded."
On the much-criticized 3 AM ad: "In the days leading up to Ohio and Texas, the campaign kept arguing over whether to air the [3 a.m.] ad. With the deadline looming, Bill Clinton, speaking from a cell phone as his plane sat on a runway, led a conference call on Thursday, Feb. 28, in which he had both sides present their case. As his plane was about to lift off, it was Bill Clinton -- not Hillary -- who issued the decisive order: 'Let's go with it.' "

Wolfson works at Fox news now. Who stands to benefit most? I don't know that Hillary would like this info leaked indicating that Bill was really pulling all of the strings, that wouldn't bode well for her being a leader (president no doubt). Obama is already the presumptive nominee, he don't need prove what Hillary did during their campaing. No I think this was an inside job, someone from Hillary's camp that somehow feels slighted by her. Penn, Wolfson, Ickes, Mcaullife. Somebody is trying to lay blame for her defeat to take the heat from them. Think people, who stands to gain?

As Dan Abrams would say after asking his panel : This is a 3-way clear loss for H*llary.
Proves what we all long ago knew : Clearly.

I think that it was Mark Penn...it seems like most people in the Clinton campaign hate him anyways and it's not like he has a reputation to protect. He benefits from a McCain win and any democratic in fighting , and remember his forged "partnership" with Karen Hughs.

That's true - like Rove & Limbaugh, this is the type of guy who thrives on chaos & being hated. Peace & harmony, to them, are ....what ....boring ?

This does not surprise me. I have always thought if Hillary had listened to her heart rather than to Bill and the other men calling the shots for her, that she would have won. I believe she would not have gone negative if she had listened to her own heart and instincts.

On the other hand, I am glad it worked out the way it did because if she was so susceptible to men's point of view and didn't have the ego strength to stand up for hers, what kind of a President would she have been?

The only way Hillary TRULY would have won the primary is if she voted against the war in Iraq.

You are implying that HILARY IS NOT A LEADER, which is true.

Her campaign was led into the ground and in debt.

Now Hilary wants to suck out the dollars that the Dems need to help win in the Fall.

Dems should not waste dollars retiring Clintons' debt!

Dems should use every last penny to get the nominee elected!

Clinton should take the financial hit for running a lousy campaign and for running it long after it was obvious that she was going to lose!

who cares? What good is going to come from rehashing war room strategies? It was exactly that........a war....and desperation sets in on the losing side at some point....so desperate things will be said and done. Just look at ol' McSame's campaign right now...you don't think some really nasty things aren't being said? This is just silly....

Sweetie, some of the many rewards of running a disciplined competent campaign are:

You win.

Your people don't leek.

How 'bout that?

Day one: drive a wedge between the Clinton's and their adoring AA supporters by twisting their every comment to imply the racists within.

Day 2: Along with Donna Brazile and Jesse jackson Jr. let the corrupt sychophantic, misogynistic press do the diry work

Day: 3 Grab the Clintons platform, senior advisors but tell the American people homophobe Reagan was more impressive than the only 2-term Democratic president in the last half century.

Day 4: go to Hawaii and let HRC do the heavy lifting at home.

Day 5: Blow your first opportunity to show gravitas on the Russian invasion of Georgia and hope anyone with at least a pea of a brain is watching the Olympics.

I think you're missing the point. Failure is vastly more interesting than success, and this is a particularly vivid documentation of a particularly vivid failure. I would venture to doubt that the internal memos of Obama's campaign contain the anger, frustration and sheer venom that is in these documents.

Questioning Bar’ack Oba’ma’s US Citizenship then you would also have to question
John Mc’Cain’s

John Mc’Cain
Personal Information
Birth date: August 29, 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone
_____________________________________________

(notice the date in this article when the law was inacted and the year John McCain was born)

John Mc’Cain, who ran for the Republican party nomination in 2000 and is the presumptive Republican nominee in 2008, was born at the Coco Solo U.S. military base in the Panama Canal Zone to U.S. parents. Although the Panama Canal Zone was not considered to be part of the United States, federal law states that "Any person born in the Canal Zone on or after February 26, 1904, and whether before or after the effective date of this chapter, whose father or mother or both at the time of the birth of such person was or is a citizen of the United States, is declared to be a citizen of the United States". The law that conferred this status took effect on August 4, 1937, one year after John McCain was born — albeit with retrospective effect, resulting in McCain being declared a U.S. citizen from birth.

Exactly. This is one path that even John McCain is intelligent enough not to travel down. The Kenya citizenship is a complete non-issue, but to make it one would once-again open up the Panama Canal discussion.

Some here complain about the media bias.
Let me point out that the majority of talking heads, analysts, anchors, etc...are middle aged or older white men. The majority of people running (and ownership) the large media outlets, whether print, radio, electronic, or TV are also middle aged or older white men. Why are we so surprised they feel extremely threatened by a young, charismatic, highly articulate, well educated, clean (for the Biden fans) black man.
It sucks, but should not come as a surprise.

Now the real laundry comes out. We'll find out what the true nature of these people. What I've read so far supports my suspicions ..... everything they have been accused or suspected of is true ...including ALL of the card(sex, race, etc) playing.

I am shocked and disappointed they have been given speaking slots. I find them unworthy.

It isn't your choice to make.

He is a popular former two-term president.

She is a sitting senator and a recent candidate for the nomination.

It's entirely fitting that they should speak at the convention.

With these memos to peruse beforehand, everyone will be able to read between the lines when they are speaking.

May I suggest that the 2 spots are now ALL they'll be getting at the convention. She'll request her name be removed from nomination. No leverage left. NY will vote for O on the 1st ballot - at her request. No 2nd ballots.

The PUMAs will get little air time and only as side show freaks. Their donations will dry up.

Unity. Just like Bill had at the 1992 convention.
