President Bush Not So Good With American Flags

So, apparently, even after seven years, President George W. Bush still hasn't learned how to correctly display the American flag. Glorious. We still have to pay him a salary, out of our stimulus packages, apparently.

It's times like this that you just sort of have to say, "Know what? On second thought, Mr. President, please don't make an effort to resolve the crisis in Georgia, okay? I think we'll all be better off."

Stars forward, that is the proper way to display the flag, that is the way the Pres. is holding Old Glory,.wat­ch the flag in a parade and the stars are facing forward like in the picture. Stars facing backwards like on most Law enforcement uniforms is a signal to retreat. The Huffington got this one wrong.

When I look at my flag I see stars on the left. If I want other people to see it the same way, I turn it the opposite way ... the stars on THEIR left (my right) Try it. Bush held the flag facing him with the stars to HIS left. When I look at a picture of the flag, I see stars on the left. Feel free to correct me if you disagree, but please don't call me ungodly names. I am a Democrat. If we are trying to prove our love for this country by holding our flag in front of us, then do it right.

The point is to have the stars to the left of the VIEWER. If Bush is the VIEWER, then the stars are to his left. Was he the viewer?

I agree that this may be reversed. It happens offen on posted digital photos. So, I will have to give this man a pass here. But, sitting at the open ceremonies bored out of his tree after a couple hours is unfortunate. Banging the 7 - 8" American flag on his knee left me speechless.

Every American Soldier wears a "backwards" American Flag on the right shoulder of the Army Combat Uniform. The Flag is worn so that the soldier is the "flagpole", and the Flag is being blown "back" as the soldier moves forward. It's all a matter or perspective, really. If you are facing a flagpole, looking towards the north, and the wind is blowing to the east, the flag is "forwards" by your definition. What if the wind shifts to the west? Is the flag then being flown "backwards"? Should the color guard who raised the flag up the flag pole be ridiculed for raising it backwards? By the same token, should the President be ridiculed by you, the Huffington Post, and everyone else who has a problem with him for HOLDING the flag up in the same manner? Should all the wounded troops I take care of be ridiculed for wearing it, proudly, on their uniforms that way? Should I?
This may seem like I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. Perhaps I am. Regardless, you can say whatever you like about the intelligence of the President. That is one of your rights as a citizen of the United States. Furthermore, myself and all the other backwards-flag wearing soldiers of the US Army will continue to give our lives protecting your right to say whatever you like. I, personally, would just like what you say to be accurate. Thank you for your time and attention.

Incredible post!!! Thanks for taking the time to write it out. It is unfortunate that we have been blitzed with Bushisms, And even much more unfortunate that we have a president that is as likely to make a mistake than not. I think it's ironic, though, that all these oh so clever bloggers jumped on this particular anti-Bush bandwagon without even minimal fact checking.

Yes.... FACTS are important HERE. I want someone to check the FACTS about crossing the heart during the singing of the National Anthem. Americans are expected to follow ALL rules, and to abide by the Constitution at all costs. It is Bush's job to study all the facts concerning the flag if he decides to show it off ... we have other jobs. Americans don't often travel to another country and hold the flag.
