Campaign AdWatch: Hot White Women Like Obama (VIDEO)

Just when you thought the real world concerns coming out of Eastern Europe might send the Presidential campaign winging back in a more adult direction, John McCain hangs out his douchenozzle flag again, returning to his juvenile "Celebrity" meme. He'd have been wise to drop this theme, since the Obama campaign's decision to try to mine the same territory was the "Celebrity" attack's definitive shark-jumping moment. I guess the McCain camp just couldn't resist adding a Surge of race-card jujitsu for spice -- this new, painful, offering practically begs the Obama camp to draw the obvious "Harold, call me!" comparison.

A video of some happy, enthusiastic people. It doesn't put me off Obama and I'm not bothered about what the McCain brigade think of me as they are constantly showing they have very little good judgement. These people in the video were actually describing Obama's personality but for the record I'm a 61 year old white woman who thinks Obama is a good looking guy who could be a lot of fun. However, he's married and only five years older than my eldest daughter and I'm not looking to get rid of my husband who's quite cute too.

This a yet another in the series of ads pointing out the shallowness and lack of substance in a difficult world. The reaction to this ad indicates that like the previous ones it is on the mark. The next thing which needs publicized is his belief in socialism.

I refuse to believe that this is a legitimate ad officially sancitoned by the McCain for President Campaign. I know it's on his website and all, but I am forced to believe that this just means his site was hacked by unruly teens, who made this embarassing ad featuring characters from Wayne's World. No serious contender for the highest office in the nation with the accompanying station that it provides in the world would ever consent to putting their stamp of approval on such an ad. Right?!!?

If Barack doesn't win this thing and America pulls a Bush '04 again, I might have to make good on my promise to eat myself into a cupcake-induced coma that lasts 4 years or flee to a far away foreign land like Alaska or Hawaii.

What made Kerry unlikable was the same thing that made Al Gore unlikable:(and John McCain in 2000): Karl Rove. Both of those men have since proven that they could do a better job than the Bush team blindfolded. Alas, McCain, the big hero, rolled over and played Bush lap dog. Goes to show you that Wesley Clark was right: getting shot down and being a prisoner of war doesn't necessarily qualify one to lead the country. We have become a country where truth and doing what is good and right is considered "dangerous folly."

This ad does not merely insult Obama, it also insults the intelligence of voters. There is a possibility that this could backfire because it seems so vulgar and un-presidential. It just depends on how dumb voters are.

However, it's time for the Obama camp to step up and fight back or Obama will lose this election before he's back from vacation. The good thing is that this kind of advertising gives Obama license to go after McCain. He better get tough or go home. Right now, Obama just seems to be under-responding and we know how that worked for Gore and Kerry.

Obama needs to stand up to John McCain, but he needs to do it in a more elegant and presidential fashion. He had better hurry up before it's too late.

The only people that this is resonating with are the media, pundits and political junkies like the ones posting here on HuffPo and the like. You guys (myself included) are the only ones paying attention to this crap, the only ones contacting the Obama campaign telling them to hit back, hit back. The majority of Americans do not know or care right now. Nothing will heat up until after labor day.

I will not believe any of these ads are working until I see several polls showing that these ads have had an effect on mainstream America. And I mean a poll where the questions are "Did the celebrity ad change your view or create doubts about the candidates?" Not generic poll taken a few days AFTER the ads have come out.
