McCain And BP Sharing Logo Ideas?

A sharp-eyed Democrat sends over screen grabs of two, similarly designed logos: the image for John McCain's Lexington Project (his energy policy) and that corporate symbol of British Petroleum. Each contain five emblems to represent different types of energy sources followed by the company or project name. McCain and BP do prioritize alternative energy a bit differently. But, for the Democrat, the larger point remains: "Not only do they share policies, they share logos too."

The purpose of both logos is to portray a variety of energy sources. I don't find it shocking that there are similarities. There's no nuke or battery in the BP logo.

Lame post.

I'm a graphic and web designer and I can tell you that it's not unusual to Google around for ideas for icons to represent things.

But even as a die hard Obama supporter, I have to say, this comparison is spurious. The icons are not similar, many exist in the McCain roster that don't in the BP set of icons and the McCain ones are much more elegant.

This is a non-story..

There is limit to how many recognizable symbols there are for the energy categories. A lollypop would be different but what energy would it refer too?

Did someone slip some LSD in your coffee? Or perhaps those stuffed mushrooms at lunch were a bit magical.

Compare the two closest -- wind-powered generators: one's cartoonish, the other is technical.

So, he plagiaizes his logo from BP and his speeches from Wikipedia . . .

Ready or not . . .

The similarity ends with the symbol count. McCain's does not seem to have one for nucular power, either.

Maybe he doesn't want us to ask him just where he's planned to put those 45 new nuclear reactors. . .

take this down, it just looks like over reaching.

A more obvious similarity can be found in that both John McCain AND Adolf Hitler have noses. Sorry Sam, there are bigger fish to fry.

Its not how huge an issue it is, its about the fact that its apparent that McCain is continually getting his energy policy from the same sources that directed Bush/Cheney to help all of us americans by handing over 17 billion to the industry and passing environmental legislation that has effectively wiped out numerous requirements for the industry to comply with more stringent policies of pollution control, and has thereby added to the destruction of the environment. Including as you must know, the Mining industry that has in the past 10 yrs wiped out 223 mountain peaks and filled in over 700 streams and water outlets out of the Appalachian and Smoky mountiain ranges in direct violation of environmental law that "USED TO BE" in effect until GOP doctrine took over.

But I digress, the main issue is energy policy which is non-existent under McCain and is responsible under Barack. Everything McCain proposes is Fraud. he has nothing substantial. His drilling idea is a blanket lie. he is telling people point blank his policy is to drill right now everywhere....??... amazing. Regulation and permits wouldnt even allow drilling to begin for 5 yrs in OCS. Industry experts including contractors have already openly stated that creating 45 new nuclear plants is near to impossible in 22 yrs that McCain said he'd initiate. (2030)
Virtually NOTHING to incentivise corporate development of alternative energy solutions.
Thats the McCain we know and love to hate.

That's a real stretch.

I agree with the previous poster, not even close. The technique is different. The buttons style versus open, the monotone vs the vivid colors and even the icons used don't represent the same things. No battery or nuclear in BP's.

Don't take this wrong ... I can't stand McCain, but as a graphic designer, I don't think there's a story here.
