Sen. Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic presidential nominee if John Edwards had been caught in his lie about an extramarital affair and forced out of the race last year, insists a top Clinton campaign aide, making a charge that could exacerbate previously existing tensions between the camps of Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama.

"I believe we would have won Iowa, and Clinton today would therefore have been the nominee," former Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson told ABC News.com.

Clinton finished third in the Iowa caucuses barely behind Edwards in second place and Obama in first. The momentum of the insurgent Obama campaign beating two better-known candidates -- not to mention an African-American winning in such an overwhelmingly white state -- changed the dynamics of the race forever.

"Edwards Cover-Up Cost Clinton The Nomination"

Actually, it was Clinton that cost Clinton the nomination....but who's counting?

Personal responsibility sucks.

Imagine if Paula Jones or Gennifer Flowers allegations against Bill before Bill Clinton's Presidential run in 1992 had knocked him out of the running and destroyed his whole political future. If I am not mistaken, didn't the older President Bush defend Clinton against the rumors and suggest that it has no place in the race?

Where is Mrs. Bill Clinton's refutation of Wolfson?

Edwards is just like most politicians who have been married more than twenty years and need new excitement. Why aren't we investigating Bill Clintons affairs?

Edward's cover up cost Kucinich the nomination!

Where have I heard that before?

Wolfson is *implying* that Edwards (& Richardson & Kucinich, et al) split the
white vote that otherwise would have gone to HRC as the 'rightful winner', and
so, she lost. Not anything she or her staff did; it was those other folks. Yeah, right.

I can say I'm a sex goddess. That doesn't make it true.

This is what you get when you try to be nice to someone like Billary...
She smells weakness and sends the Hill-dogs to attack.

Wolfson is goofy. Iowa had a total of 45 pledged delegates. Edwards got 4 and Clinton got 14 for a total of 18---but a far higher percentage of Edwards people said that Obama was their second choice rather than Clinton. Obama got 27 delegates. Even if half of Edwards people went with Clinton, and that is much more than the exit polls showed, it would still be 29 for Obama to 16 for Clinton. There were 12 super delegates, but even if Clinton got them all, which she wouldn't have, she still would have only had 28 total pledged and super delegates and Obama would still have won Iowa. The comments from people who were present were along the lines that Obama had run an extraordinary Iowa campaign and that they had barely heard from Clinton---and that was said by a Clinton supporter! The Clinton campaign needs to stop with all of their nonsense and excuses. It's over. We're Democrats and we have a candidate who just might win the White House if we get behind him. If we keep acting silly, we may end up with four more years of Bush like. We all owe our children more than that. Time to belly up to the bar and act like grown ups. We wouldn't let our kids act like this two months after they lost a close Little League game. There is such a thing as good sportsmanship. And it's past time to see some. Enough.

H and B, ever aware of their entitlement and royalty, have commissioned a crest. It's still on the drawing board, unfinished, so far there's just a finger---the long finger of blame--- pointing outward.

An image of it will be projected onto a screen above their heads when they speak at the convention in August.
