Anti-Obama Book Tops NYT Bestseller List

NEW YORK — Whether they like him or oppose him, readers want to hear more about Barack Obama.

"The Obama Nation," an anti-Obama book written by Jerome V. Corsi, will debut at No. 1 come Sunday on The New York Times' hardcover nonfiction best-seller list. Corsi was co-author of "Unfit for Command," an influential 2004 best-seller that condemned the Vietnam War record of then Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

Obama, the Democrats' presumptive nominee in 2008, is himself the author of the million-selling "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope."

Interest in him is so strong that even an upcoming policy book, usually the toughest of sells, is catching on. A compilation of speeches and policy statements by Obama and his campaign staff, "Change We Can Believe In," had reached the top 75 on Amazon.com by Monday evening, less than a day after The Associated Press reported the book would come out in September.

"Change We Can Believe In" has an announced first printing of 300,000.

The choice for president isn't who is more likeable--it is which ideology you agree with--liberal or conservative.

Obama is very liberal, rated the most liberal in the senate. He if for raising taxes, government health care, government as the solution for everything, abortion, other left positions. McCain is fairly conservative--strong military, pro life, lower taxes and spending. Not too good on global warming hoax and immigration. But still conservative.

If you agree with the left agenda outlined in this book, then vote for Obama. Don't complain about the book.

He will only raise taxes on the top tax bracket. - Something even Warren Buffet and Bill Gates agree with. Republicans think the government is useless except when it comes to legislating their 'morality' - anti-choice, anti gay rights - while they fool around in men’s rooms and with prostitutes standing on their soap boxes. Didn't anyone on your side ever hear the expression "those in glass houses"? When it comes to health care or to really supporting the troops in regards to their pay, their equipment, their rotations - they don't believe in government. Obama's response to the actions in Georgia was appropriate and thoughtful. McCain threatens but unfortunately, due to the disastrous, horrendous occupation of Iraq, we have nothing left to back up the threats and everyone knows it. Obama is correct on healthcare, correct on restoring the economy so the middle class has a chance, correct with Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and I was proud beyond belief watching a gentleman with intelligence and class be so welcomed overseas! To see our flag waved and not on fire! Amazing!! Thrilling!! McCain is a has been. He can't even speak without constantly looking at his notes because he really doesn't understand what he is saying. He is reading others thoughts and opinions just as Bush does. America is ready for a President with a functioning brain and a kind heart. We don't always have to be a bully - only those with no strength bully. It's time to restore real American values of a respect for truth, a respect for humanity - no torture!! A respect for our environment and a respect for our military. And all these things deserve real respect, not the false 10 second sound bites of the Republican Party. The Constitution has been walked on by the republicans - while they wear flag pins. The justice department is corrupted. We got stuck in NYC for an extra 6 or so hours yesterday (flight delay ... ) and ended up in a bookstore for a while. I took a look at the book -- and quite frankly, it seemed accurate. The facts I mean, by and large, seemed accurate. Now shading and interpretation are different matters.

I'm from the Chicago area and so some of that stuff I've seen before. Actually, I'm going to look again at the Rezko ties, b/c the book had some different info on it than I'd seen before. But I'm also not going to just take the book's word for it, either. But again, as I said, that book SEEMED factually correct, when reading things that I'm fairly certain are true. (And no, I do not have detailed knowledge of Obama's life. I need to have detailed knowledge of my own, not his.)

Some of "that stuff" she has not only seen, she has repeated it here online. So, she sees something in a book that matches things she has already said -- they would certainly "seem accurate," but their actual accuracy would depend on her care in acquiring information in the first place. She answers that above in her last sentence.

Well, first of all, I would say Chicago is nuts for Obama. Yes, there are those who are more critical (I would say objective) than others, but by and large your average citizen is pretty much for him, because he's from here. Reporters and politicians? I think they tend to be a little more critical.

And Kahni -- here's some bio -- past 50, a Hillary supporter, (NOT a PUMA!) a liberal. I probably would be much more in favor of Obama if I hadn't felt he got a huge helping hand not just from his campaign (which has been VERy well run, I won't deny that) from a press that was just in love with him and the idea of him. I tire of the idea he can do no wrong. In Illinois he has done some very old-school political things, but preaches the change theme and a different way of doing things. Reality has not lived up to that. And his recent changes in positions, well, they go against that theme, too.

I think blogs should be able to have differences of opinions expressed. I like coming here to see what people say, but I don't think it's particularly useful to have everyone say the same thing. I go on all kinds of sites, because I find it all interesting.

I'm in a dilemma for November. Still haven't decided what to do. Since Illinois is going Obama in any case, my current thinking is to write in HRC.

You think someone not able to take a knock is going to ever be POTUS? You think that his eveness of temperment is bad? Obama won the primaries against the Clintons...all three of them...and McCain.
