NEW YORK — Whether they like him or oppose him, readers want to hear more about Barack Obama.

"The Obama Nation," an anti-Obama book written by Jerome V. Corsi, will debut at No. 1 come Sunday on The New York Times' hardcover nonfiction best-seller list. Corsi was co-author of "Unfit for Command," an influential 2004 best-seller that condemned the Vietnam War record of then Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

Obama, the Democrats' presumptive nominee in 2008, is himself the author of the million-selling "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope."

Interest in him is so strong that even an upcoming policy book, usually the toughest of sells, is catching on. A compilation of speeches and policy statements by Obama and his campaign staff, "Change We Can Believe In," had reached the top 75 on Amazon.com by Monday evening, less than a day after The Associated Press reported the book would come out in September.

"Change We Can Believe In" has an announced first printing of 300,000.

"Since 1884, we've had a roll-call vote. ... It's a nominating convention, not a coronation," said Garry Mauro, the four-term Texas land commissioner and past gubernatorial candidate who ran against George W. Bu$h - and who will go to his 10th Democratic national convention this month as a Clint0n delegate.

Mauro said that because it was such a closely contested election, he is mystified as to why the 0bama campaign is resisting and even balking at a roll-call vote, according to some reports.

"Are these folks so new to politics, are they so arrogant, that they think he's different from every other nominee we've ever had?" he asks.

We managed to avoid a coronation, thank goodness.

always a roll call. not always every candidates name is on it. often - but not always.

1992 as a matter fact.

unanimous 1st roll call. closest rival took his name off the roll.

he was told to or lose his cahnce to speak at the convention.

had to have his home state delegates agree to vote for - you know who -on the 1st ballot to get a prime time slot to speak.

party unity was had by all in 1992 - even if they had to use threats to make it happen.

clintons love coronations.

For perspective, everyone should keep in mind that the Latin translation of Winnie the Pooh (Winnie ille Pu) topped the NYT Bestseller List and remained there for twenty weeks.

It's all over the web and TV that the Clinton campaign was told to use the smear tactics from the right...SHE didn't do it herself but got Hannity and Co. to do it and the same for this book...the Clintons are behind all this stuff...she is "playing" at campaigning but Bill is directing all the stuff going on underground...and Penn is still working for them...with Wolfson doing his subtle damage on Fox...he's always on Hannity.

I noticed he is always on Hannity. Hannity appears to be the key to all the smears. He is either creating them all or working with someone behind the scene. He might be the front man for Karl Rove.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Frank Clark, stands out amongst 0bama supporters. On Sen. 0bama’s website, Mr. Clark is listed as a bundler who raised in excess of $200,000 for the Senator’s Presidential campaign. In 2004, Mr. Clark donated $5,000 to the then State Senator 0bama’s U.S. Senate bid. In 2005, Mr. Clark became the Chairman of the Board at Adler Planetarium, and in 2006 Sen. 0bama earmarked $300,000 to the Planetarium. Then, in the same year that Mr. Clark’s involvement in the 0bama campaign skyrocketed to raising an excess of $200,000, Sen. 0bama’s earmark for the Adler Planetarium increased tenfold to $3,000,000.
Mr. Clark isn’t the only problematic donor. Two of the Vice Chairmen of the Board, Brian Cressey and Peter Thompson are also significant donors. Between donations from Mr. Thompson and the Cressey household, Sen. Obama received $13,800. The most significant donor here is Mr. Cressey. As a first time donor, Mr. Cressey gave the maximum possible individual donation in essentially one big check. What makes this even more troubling is that Mr. Cressey had never given to Sen. 0bama before 2008, the year in which the Adler Planetarium’s earmark increased tenfold.
The fact that three ranking members of the Adler Planetarium’s Board donated huge sums of money (at least $200,000) is interesting by itself. The fact that these enormous contributions came in the same year that Sen. 0bama increased their earmark by 900% is truly unsettling.

No no no.

You have to come to grips with the fact that all those negative things you talk about transcend political boundaries. Tagging them to the "DEM"s is factually inaccurate and smacks of simplistic name-calling (remember, you are on record in this thread as to not liking that).

Besides, saying gore and ed are greedy without considering the pursuit of dollars by mc and bush makes you seem to be biased. We don't want that now do we?

Liked all those u's in dude. But you have been funnier.

Can someone explain to me how a book, that NO ONE has bought, or read yet, can "DEBUT" at No. 1?
I would also be interested to see how many of the RETAIL pre-orders are BULK purchases.
(This is the exact same technique used by the Scientologists to keep the inane Hubbard novels in the top 100)

Yeah, but just think of how cheap you'll be able to pick up a copy, next month! And it's not like you're really putting money into Corsi's pocket, when you finally pick up your copy with the little hole in it! :-)

I think it's fantastic that the right does this bulk thing with the propganda. Siphons-off valuable resources... as of now, all that money gets 'em is the ability for a one-day headline about being "Number One on the New York Times bestseller list!". That, plus 25c, will get you a New York Post.

The Times book review notes books that are on the best-seller list which have been purchased in "bulk quantities". 99 percent of the time, these books are by such sterling citizens as A. Coulter, James Dobson, ad nauseum. Unfortunately, the Times doesn't indicate just how many copies have been "bulk purchased" and how many have been bought by individuals.

What happens after these books have been bought in bulk quantities. Well, they're distributed to the dittoheads by Focus on the Family, Liberty University and other such organizations. Now, as to how many books actually are READ?? We're assuming that the people who are the final recipients of these books spend their off-time reading, which is of course, a very large leap of faith. . .I'm guessing maybe fifty?

Question:

Was McCain actually part of the Franklin Coverup or did he just stay silent and watch the other Republicans have their fun? Was Limbaugh there? Since he plays in the DR, it only makes sense he would want to get in on some of THAT fun.

And what about the rumors some Republican operatives and trolls came from the same "Boys Town" camp in Kansas? Is Jeff Gannon really Johnny Gosch?

Actually, it is, considering you cannot. The 300,000 copies is for "Change We Can Believe In", Obama's book.

Check your facts before you decide to make broad generalizations about your selective bigotry.

So who or what organizations are really spurring the sales of these 'swift boat tomes'? The American Enterprise Institute, Focus on the Family...it's pretty pathetic when bogus book sales are used to create a mirage of antipathy toward Obama.

The real question all of us & if the corporate media could loosen it's mouth from the republican teat, ask is 'why are the far-righties & corporatists so afraid of Obama? Are they that afraid of a left of center moderate? Or is it his name that scares them? Or is it something more pervasive & dark, that frightens them?

After 8yrs of dishes out fear to the American public, maybe the republicans are merely trembling victims of their own hype.

Even if it sells a million books that's still a drop in the bucket compared to the number of people that will vote and will likely be bought by people who would either never vote for Obama or who are looking for a reason to not vote for Obama.

By the way on Amazon the book is number 12 - what's number 11?

there's one out there... and to trash mccain, all you have to do is report the facts - something the traditional media seems incapable of doing.

cliff schecter's "the real mccain" is a nice summary of the faux maverick. here's the link to it at amazon: http://tinyurl.com/554pm9

There is a pretty good documentary in the works about McCain's experience wrecking two planes before getting shot down a 3rd time. There are POWs talking out about preferential treatment by the NV guards and the movie dives in a little bit about his "interesting" medical records and how he dumped his ex wife cold after she got sick.

Once the truth about McCain is aired, he'll have to split 20% of the vote with Bob Barr, if he's lucky.

Next, Reagan will be exposed for the mindless corporate tool he really was.

Democrats will take over all (3) houses for at least a century to come and Fox, PNAC, Heritage, Limbaugh and their propaganda monkeys/trolls will be fleeing to Dubai for protection from Cheney and Gramm. The end of fascist rule is nearing.
